While the City's Memorial events are cancelled this year, the City is hosting a few socially distance activities for the holiday.

Gather your family and grab your bucket of chalk, the City of Green is inviting residents to Chalk the Walk! Turn our side walks red, white, and blue with patriotic artwork and positive messages along our traditional parade route on Boettler, Massillon, and Steese roads.

Chalk the Walk will take place anytime May 23-25. Families must bring either own chalk and maintain proper social distancing.

Find more information, the traditional parade route map, and other Memorial Day 2020 activities at cityofgreen.org/MemorialDay2020

Pride and prestige stand out when looking at the military photos of Leonard Falcone, a 86-year-old man who fought in the Korean War.

With temps forecasted to be in the 30s on Saturday morning, we have decided to move the Veterans Day Ceremony indoors to the Queen of Heaven Parish Life Center, 1800 Steese Road (right next to the Veterans Park). The event begins at 10:45 a.m. with a light lunch served following the ceremony. Come join the community in celebrating and thanking our veterans. Please share.

(Katy, Texas) OH-TF1 and Ohio Army National Guard, Army Aviation Support Facility #1 continue the tradition of preparing for the worst, to better protect Ohio and our fellow Americans.

As rescue missions wind down, the team took advantage of an opportunity to train with Ohio National Guard Chinook Helicopter crews at Houston Executive Airport on Sunday, September 3. The CH-47F Chinook cargo helicopter crews are from Ohio Army National Guard, Army Aviation Support Facility #1 (AASF #1), located in North Canton, Ohio.

OH-TF1 and AASF #1 are no strangers to training together in Ohio. The teams have trained multiple times for just this type of rescue mission. They have previously trained in the tasks associated with search and rescue and disaster recovery at multiple exercises and events leading up to Hurricane Harvey.

The leadership of both units have worked together in the past. Both were very proud of their ability to share resources in providing rescue and relief efforts across the United States.

The AASF team from Ohio is currently in Houston providing ongoing fueling assistance to teams all over Southeast Texas.

OH-TF1 Task Force Leader, Mike Cayse stated “These same crews have flown us around in past exercises and joint training. This disaster is exactly why we have trained together in the past.”

OH-TF1 rescue team members also got to go out and visit the site of their most technical rescue of the event now that the water has gone down. While there, the brother of the person rescued by the team showed up and let our rescue team talk to him by phone. It was very heartwarming. Seldom do they have the opportunity to talk to those they have rescued.

OH-TF1 continues to stage in a Base of Operations located in Katy Texas.
