🏔️ Mountain Pose is our standing Savasana — a quiet reset you can return to anytime.
Feet grounded, spine tall, breath steady. Nothing to fix, nowhere to go.
Just a moment to arrive fully in your body and begin again. 🧘🏼‍♀️

Embracing the New Year

As I consider New Year's Resolutions, I find that there's a balancing act between self-discipline and maintaining some sense of humor...some gentleness. Too much discipline and I defeat myself. Too much gentleness and I don't get off the couch (This is where the sense of humor comes in).

If you like the idea of setting goals for the New Year, as you consider the aspects of your life that you would like to develop and the aspects of your life you would like to simplify, I offer one of my favorite quotes from the ancient texts of the Upanishads.

It leans to the disciplined side, so bring your sense of humor as you start practicing. But I find the only way to change the way my mind works is to notice all the autopilot running in there.

From the Upanishads:

Watch your thoughts,
for they become words.
Watch your words,
for they become deeds.
Watch your deeds,
for they become habits.
Watch your habits,
for they become your character.
Your character is everything,
for it becomes your destiny.

Cat–Cow is a simple way to wake up the spine and reconnect breath with movement 🧘‍♀️

Gently flowing between flexion and extension helps release tension, improve mobility, and bring awareness back into the body. Let your breath lead 🌬️, move slowly, and notice how even small movements can create ease and space 🤍🐈‍⬛🐄

Here’s a poem for you — How to Love the World by James Crews.
A reminder to keep gratitude close, even in the quiet or uncertain moments. To slow down enough to feel the warmth of lamplight, the comfort of a quiet home, the soft rhythm of rain, and a mug held gently in both hands.
It’s in these small, tender pauses that we remember how to love the world — one gesture at a time. ✨

Mini Movement Monday 🧘‍♀️
Take a moment to stretch, reset, and energize with Downward-Facing Dog.

From hands and knees, lift your hips up and back, forming an inverted “V.” Spread your fingers wide, press your heels toward the floor (even if they don’t touch), and breathe deeply for 3–5 breaths.

This simple pose helps:
• Stretch the hamstrings, calves, and shoulders
• Relieve tension and boost circulation

A few breaths here can refresh your whole day — no mat required! ✨

Try to accept the changing seasons of your heart, forgive yourself, and be gentle with your growth. 🌿
Like a tree letting go of old leaves, we make space for new beginnings.
Open yourself to the beauty and mystery of life, and let your heart dance in the light of love. ✨

Take a moment today to breathe, move, and honor your own journey — on and off the mat.
