Ben writes: “While we know microplastics have made themselves known in almost all areas of the body including the brain, we know little to none about their impacts on human health. Considering the disproportionate exposure chemicals that leach from microplastics have on society, including bisphenols, PFAS, and phthalates, I am attempting to provide insight into the actual impacts of the microplastics themselves. I am planning on doing so in the lab by using the gut microbiome model, using E. coli as a proxy for human health by exposing the bacteria to polystyrene microplastics and observing trends in biofilm formation and subsequent antibiotic resistance.” 📚🦉

Courtney writes: “This project aims to compose a cross-cultural study of multiple countries’ implementations of restorative justice practices in K-12 school systems to inform how effective restorative methods in educational settings can work. To do so, I will study RJ practices in both New Zealand and Canadian school systems to gain better insight into the successes, challenges, and best practices of two well-established RJ programs to inform U.S. integration.” 🦉📚

Devin writes: “My project is based around the concept of colonialism and the oppression it often uses in its territories. By examining the case studies of Indo China (Current day Vietnam), South Africa and Afghanistan, I hope to show that colonial oppression in the areas of Race, Religion and Economics spurred on the creation of both violent and non-violent non-state actors.” 🦉📚

Kelsey writes: “My thesis offers a philosophical analysis of the ethical concerns surrounding moral responsibility in the use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. It will explore the complex issue of AI-created responsibility gaps in the medical setting, where assigning and upholding moral responsibility is a fundamental principle of medical ethics.” 🦉📚

In addition, I conducted a survey and interviews to peer into the mind of reader and writer in omegaverse fanfiction and to help define the genre as a whole.” 📚🦉
