Continuing with the celebration of National Nursing Home Week, we recognized achievements and milestones within Hickory Creek at Sunset.
We proudly celebrated several incredible accomplishments, including reductions in turnover and falls, as well as recognizing our Employee of the Month honorees. We also celebrated a major milestone — Hickory Creek at Sunset’s 60th Anniversary — and reflected on the generations of care and compassion that have shaped our community.
One of the most special moments of the day was honoring Baker on her 51 years of dedicated service to our residents and community, while also celebrating her birthday. Surrounded by her family, coworkers, and community leaders, we recognized the immeasurable impact she has made over five decades. In an unforgettable moment, the Mayor of Greencastle officially proclaimed May 13th as “Diana Baker Day” in recognition of her commitment, compassion, and service. It was a beautiful and emotional celebration for someone who has touched so many lives.
Residents voted on staff superlative and we also hosted a friendly but competitive dodgeball tournament where staff formed teams of four to see who truly had the most skill. James, our LPN, was dropping players left and right and quickly became the one to beat — until his team was finally defeated. Before each round could begin, someone on the court had to answer a question, and our Activity Director Lisa delivered everyone’s favorite by asking, “What are you guys doing?” The entire room shouted back in unison: “TEAMWORK!” It was one of those moments that perfectly captured the spirit of the day.
