Mental Health America of Putnam County

Mental Health America of Putnam County We provide mental health awareness to Putnam County through advocacy, education, collaboration, supp MHAoPC has seen change in affiliation too.

Whether it be helping folks seeking out services/resources, educating our children about important mental health issues, or sharing knowledge and tools for better mental health to the public, Mental Health America of Putnam County is here to serve you. Started in 1954 as the National Association of Mental Health, we've seen our name change from Mental Health Association to the national title of Mental Health America. For many years, we were affiliated through Mental Health America of Indiana. In 2016, however, we applied and were officially granted affiliation directly with the national organization. MHAoPC provides the following programs for the members of the Putnam County Community:

Helping Children/Co-Parenting (HCCP) - a program designed to assist parents and children offset potential negative impacts of separation by showing them how to develop and maintain healthy relationships. MHAoPC "Puppet Power" Program - an educational puppet program offered in all County schools from pre-school to fifth grade. The program puppeteers are students from the local middle and high schools who work closely with school counselors and perform different programs for each grade level. The subjects covered by the programs are child abuse prevention, children's body rights, self-confidence, tobacco education, incorrect prescription drug use, strategies on coping with bullying behavior, and child safety geared to pre-school and kindergarten students. This program is also offered to non-school organizations, such as scouts and church groups. Puppet Power has been in place for more than 10 years and the concept of children reaching children has been very successful. Such wise information!

🔥 Burnout isn’t something you fix with a bubble bath or a better planner.

Things like self-care, time off, working from home, or even a vacation can help you recover temporarily — but they don’t solve what actually causes burnout: overwhelming workloads, unclear expectations, constant urgency, and cultures that reward exhaustion.

Burnout is a systems issue, not a personal failure.

Real prevention looks like:
• reasonable workloads
• clear priorities
• supportive leadership
• psychological safety
• and enough staffing to do the work well

If you’re feeling worn down, you’re not broken. You’re human.

Your brain is always looking for dopamine, the chemical that helps you feel motivated, focused, and okay.
When we get it mostly from our phones, it tends to wear off fast and leave us feeling drained or anxious.

These simple, screen-free dopamine boosts are easy to work into a normal day, whether you’re at work, at home, or somewhere in between. Try one today and see how it feels.

Small actions can make a big difference. 💛

Mental health matters 💗✨

It's World Mental Health Day and I decided to redraw this old illustration of mine to remind you that mental health struggles don't have a certain "look". Even if you're not struggling, someone you know might be. ❤️

So even if everything seems to be OK it's always a good idea to check in with the people around you and encourage open and honest conversations about mental health.

Remember to be kind and never compare, blame or belittle anyone's mental health challenges - not even your own. 🫶

Who do you talk to when you need support?

Take care of yourself this week 😊💕

❤️ Nora
