A message from our new massage therapist!
Greetings Barefoot Haven Yogis,
My name is Jevin Boardman, and I'm the operator of the massage services at Barefoot Haven. It hasn’t taken me long to see that the Barefoot Haven students and teachers have created a really special community focused on health and wellness, and joining in the stewardship of this community is an honor and an inspiration.
When I took on this responsibility, my strong intention was to create a range of massage services that reflect my philosophy of health and wellness. My goal is always to create a wholesome experience for the individual I treat, aligning the unique physical, mental, and emotional histories into one. Whether I'm treating a yogi after class or a professional athlete before a game, it is vital to exercise both the communication skills and confidence to foster an authentic connection with clients, and the experience and willingness to adapt treatment to meet the needs of any person they treat.
It’s my hope that the two practitioners I introduce below will be able to find the right fit of massage treatment for you at Barefoot Haven Yoga and Wellness. Each brings a unique approach and an experience that allows them to create a treatment that meets your needs.
Introductions:
Megan believes in a whole-body approach for massage, and focuses to discover and understand the root cause of the issue and treat beyond the site of pain or symptoms. With her degree in Psychology and a focus on mental health, Megan then pursued her massage therapy license and found her calling. With her neuromuscular training, she specializes in focused treatment by targeting specific muscles and pressure points throughout the body. Megan uses a blend of techniques including trigger point therapy, deep tissue, and myofascial techniques, and also incorporates hot stones, cupping, and stretching during her treatment. Her experience ranges from treating neurological disorders (multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, complex regional pain disorder, migraines, epilepsy) to autoimmune diseases (Hashimoto’s, rheumatoid arthritis) to connective tissue disorders (Ehlers-Danlos, lupus). Megan’s approach is more therapeutic with relaxation elements, but she also appreciates a relaxation/Swedish massage and enjoys bringing relief and relaxation to expecting mothers. Megan emphasizes client involvement with treatment plans and goals and believes that communication and collaboration is key! Each session with Megan is yours-and she wants to ensure that she is providing the work and service that you are seeking.
Deja, a Milwaukee native, is a licensed massage therapist with a deep passion for helping others. She graduated from the Institute of Beauty and Wellness, where she earned her massage licensure, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. With a natural empathy and desire to help others relieve pain, Deja specializes in Swedish massage, deep-tissue therapy, trigger-point therapy, hot stone therapy, and soft-tissue manipulation, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of her clients. Her approach combines her therapeutic skills with her growing understanding of human movement, enabling her to provide effective, holistic care aimed at promoting both short-term relief and long-term wellness.
How to book: You can find the availability of each practitioner -- as well as the services each provides -- on our booking page, bodystatemke.janeapp.com. If you need to book outside of the hours available in our scheduling app, please contact the business by phone (612-223-3822) or email (bodystatemke@gmail.com), and you will be connected with a therapist who can see you at your convenience.

We know that you want to keep doing what you love in work, life, and sport. In order to do that, you need to feel your best. The problem is that when you don’t take recovery seriously, you risk your body holding you back.
