A recent study suggested that more than 70% of children & adults with autism had a special isolated skill in memory (52% of the sample), visuo‐spatial abilities (32%), calculation, drawing or music (about 17% for each area).

Individuals with Autism were found to have an increased auditory perceptual capacity relative to individuals who are neurotypical. This increased capacity may offer an explanation for the auditory superiorities such as heightened pitch detection.
