The Ben and Ed show took the stage on Friday, bringing us tunes from their favorite artists and entertainers. We enjoyed their versions of "The Bare Necessities" from the Jungle Book, "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music, "Tomorrow" from Annie, and hits from the Herman's Hermits, The Monkeys, Elvis and many more that got us singing and dancing right along. Thanks Ben and Ed for the fantastic afternoon of fun and friendship! 🎼

Residents voted in the Resident Council to make a donation to a local food pantry for National Food Bank Day on September 5th. We rolled up our sleeves and put together a whopping TEN birthday cake kits- complete with pan, cake mix, frosting, a soda to make a two ingredient cake recipe that doesn't require eggs or oil, and a set of birthday candles.

Many hands make light work was very true in this case. We're thankful for the caring and helping hands in our community at Charlene Manor. In addition to the food collected in the lobby during the previous weeks, our cake kits will be traveling to the center for Self Reliance Food bank here in Greenfield, MA.

Yesterday our wonderful volunteer Evie brought some pieces of history for us to reminisce and tell stories about, including a rug be**er, a corn planter, a butter paddle, a woven pine needle basket, a wooden tool for darning socks, a quilt from the Underground Railroad, and a canary glass flower vase from a Model T that her father found in Dragon Brook in Shelburne.

Thank you Evie, for the wonderful trip down memory lane!

Watermelon Pizza sounded like something we had to try at least once!
You start with one watermelon slice, decorate it with cool whip, and add blueberries and raspberries for the "pizza toppings".
We loved it! It was good enough to have again sometime. Two thumbs up! 🍉🍕
