Today, faith leaders, public health advocates, and communities across the U.S. and beyond are recognizing and raising awareness about the to***co industry’s long history of targeting Black communities with menthol ci******es.

Menthol ci******es make it easier to start smoking and harder to quit, contributing to devastating health disparities and to***co-related disease.

We stand with partners and advocates working to protect health, advance equity and end the to***co industry’s predatory targeting once and for all.

Today is Earth Day and we are grateful that some members of our Hancock County To***co Free Coalition, our New Palestine High School VOICE group, Mt. Vernon Middle School VOICE group, and students at Mt. Vernon Intermediate School all conducted cigarette butt waste pickups and other trash pickups around our Hancock County Community.

Cigarette butts are the MOST littered item on the face of the earth and these non-biodegradable products full of toxic waste pollute our earth at unimaginable levels. Today our volunteers picked up not only to***co products such as cigarette butts, but discarded va**ng devices, cigarette packs, smokeless to***co cans, discarded ni****ne pouches, lighters, other to***co products and packaging, and so much more trash in just the one hour of time each group gave to this project. We know our community can do better in honor of Earth Day and every day.

Thank you too ALL who volunteered and those in the community who thanked our volunteers while they were doing this important work! Voice
