We love this annual reminder from Greenfield Police Department. School starts soon.🍎 Be on the lookout for our kids and help keep our community safe!
The time has come for the children in our community to head back to class!
The 2025-2026 Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation school year begins on Wednesday morning! Take a few minutes tonight to think about your morning and afternoon routines. Do they take you past a school bus stop in your neighborhood? Do you pass through a school zone? Even if not, please slow down a little and be aware that kids will be out in the morning and afternoons.
When driving through a school zone, remember, if the school zone lights are flashing the lower speed limit applies! Oak Boulevard is a little confusing, but that speed limit is 20 MPH at all times. A citation for speeding when the lights are flashing will cost you more!
Please, do not pass a stopped school bus with red lights flashing! This is incredibly dangerous, illegal, and could cost you a lot. Even jail if the circumstances permit. It's just not worth the risk of hurting a child. The graphic below explains when you have to stop for a stopped school bus. The only time you don't have to stop is if you are on a divided roadway (like E. US40) with a non-drivable median or barrier and the bus is going the opposite direction.
Please watch for the kids and school busses. We will be watching you!
