Hi everyone! It’s been a while and I feel like I need a reintroduction!

*My name is Jamie McGuire and I am a certified birth & postpartum doula. I primarily work as an overnight doula and I am also trained as a lactation education counselor.

*I am a mama to two beautiful girls (4&6) and have two bonus kids (8&10) and a pup (7)! My husband and I have been married 6 years and we love to travel ! I couldn’t do this without his amazing support!

*Prior to becoming a doula I was a paralegal and after I had my own children I realized that mamas needed more support! I didn’t know that a postpartum doula was a “thing” and I realized I had been doing this most of my life! I have been a doula full time for three years now!!

*I did my training and certification through the and now serve on the council as secretary.

*I count myself as one of the few people that truly love their “job”. Being a doula has never felt like work to me. Supporting families through their most vulnerable moments and getting to be there for them fills me with so much joy, I truly count myself lucky to be able to do this.

Yesterday we celebrated miss Penny’s 4th birthday !!

PSA- they do amazing parties! We did a sensory “purple party” theme and the kids LOVED it! We all had so much fun, 10/10 recommend if you are looking for somewhere to host your kiddos party!

And just like that another six week has wrapped! I absolutely love facilitating these groups! Make sure to sign up for one anytime between zero and four months postpartum! It doesn’t matter if you are a first, second or third time mom, the peer support is unmatched!

Hi everyone! I have a super big request from any friends that may own a businesses!

The Long Island Doula Association, Inc. (LIDA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting pregnant women, parents, and families, and professionals on Long Island. To further LIDAs mission, a Community Support Fund (CSF) was formed. This fund allows us to assist families experiencing a hardship by providing doula support, childbirth education, and/or lactation support. Through our CSF we provide paid professional supportive and educational services at little or no cost to local families who qualify. But as we know, money runs out.

Since 2005, LIDA has assisted hundreds of families on Long Island. Our Community Support Fund provides birth & postpartum doulas, childbirth education, and lactation support. However, in order to carry out this mission to provide support for local families, we rely on donations from generous supporters in the community.

At this years Gala, we will honor beloved LIDA supporter and Founder of The Women's Diversity Network, Shanequa Levin. Shanequa has been a leader in social justice and has won several awards for her work and is a published Author of Poverty's Pheonix. We are grateful for her support over the years and hope you will join us in celebrating all she has accomplished at the gala! It’s a fantastic night and can win some amazing prizes!

So what’s my point?
We are asking for your support in the form of a sponsorship commitment, or raffle baskets! This is great for a local business who wants to get their products and names out there!! (I can arrange pick up or answer any questions!) we are looking for tiny raffles and big grand prize raffles as well!

(Donations to LIDA are tax deductible, and because LIDA is a volunteer-run organization, we can ensure that all of your donations will directly support the Community Support Fund. The event will be attended by representatives from many of Long Island’s well-known hospitals, medical practices, and community based organizations.)

We look forward to assisting many more Long Island families in the years to come, but can only do so with the support of our donors. Your sponsorship will help LIDA sustain one of our most important missions: empowering women and families.

Please join us for our in-person Meet The program on Thursday, 9/5, 7-8PM at the MART Auditorium (Stony Brook Hospital). You will get an opportunity to participate in a Q & A session, and become more comfortable by touring our Triage, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum rooms. It is a great way to be informed and get to know us! At this time, the program is limited to birthing parents only, and siblings are not permitted. No registration is required.
*Enter the main visitor parking lot. Go to the back left, away from the entrance. Park. (Any level is fine) Follow the signs by the staircases to the MART. (Exit the back of the lot, opposite the exit for the main hospital.) Enter the building by the sign for the Auditorium.

This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the conference in Washington DC with my best friend and mentor. We celebrated my 35th birthday and connected with some of the groundbreaking women in the perinatal mental health profession. It is an honor to connect with so many whose tribe to better mental health for mothers. My cup is so full, both personally and professionally!
