"WHOEVER TRULY WISHES TO HEAL MAN MUST SEE HIM IN HIS WHOLENESS AND MUST KNOW THAT HIS ULTIMATE HEALING CAN ONLY BE GOD'S LOVE." - POPE BENEDICT XVI

Living Waters Counseling Center is dedicated to the healing of the whole individual. Wholeness is in the four quadrants of our being human: the intellectual (cognitive behavioral therapy, insight oriented, goal oriented) ; the emotional (EMDR, inner child work, theophostics); the body (somaticization); and the spirit (prayer). Physical development begins in utero and declines as a person ages. Emotional development begins at 6 months and it sets the background for how a person deals in relationships. Intellectual development, the use of reason, typically begins at 6 years old and continues throughout one's life. The purpose of the intellect is for survival and the use of good judgment. Spiritual development becomes more prominent in adolescence. The inability to develop this quadrant leads to lack of fulfillment, confusion and emptiness. The development of it leads to true wisdom and a sense of peace. In the therapeutic community, more and more counselors recognize that purely using the scientific and clinical approach without the spiritual has a poor outcome. At Living Waters Counseling Center, the therapist uses their counseling skills but also includes a strong spiritual component, much like the 12 Step Programs. No lasting or deep healing can occur without a combination of all four quadrants. Never Go Thirsty is a 501-c3 Non-for Profit arm of Living Waters Counseling Center which provides the healing water of counseling, prayer, and love to flow through the people whose lives are being touched by the staff. It is an integrated approach to healing using the concepts of mind and spirit rooted in faithful prayer. NGT was established to assist Living Waters Counseling Center with supplemental funding through grants, donations and fundraising in order to provide faith based counseling and support to adults, children, couples and families who are abused, traumatized, suffering from addictions and dealing with the full range of the the human experience. These people do not typically have access to these services due to lack of financial resources. NGT helps make counseling services accessible to all those in need regardless of their income.

Gift giving is more than a holiday tradition. It can genuinely support mental health. Giving a thoughtful gift releases serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine, which help lift mood, reduce stress, and increase feelings of connection. Studies show that giving a well received gift can feel just as rewarding as receiving one. Even small acts of generosity can strengthen relationships and bring a sense of joy and purpose.

As winter settles in, many people notice a drop in mood. Shorter days, less sunlight, and spending less time outdoors can lead to low energy, negative thoughts, and even vitamin D deficiency. This can feel even harder when it overlaps with the holiday season, a time that is often portrayed as joyful and full of connection.

If you are experiencing a winter slump, you are not alone. Small steps like getting natural light, staying connected, and reaching out for support can make a real difference. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

Part 2: When Faith and Psychology Agree

Jealousy quietly erodes peace of mind. Both faith and psychology tell us that envy harms emotional and spiritual health. It creates insecurity, resentment, and distance in relationships.

Proverbs 14:30 says, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” When we choose gratitude over comparison, we open the door to healing and peace.

Blog Excerpt – Part 1: Recognizing Jealousy and Envy

We’re all human. It’s easy to look at others and feel a twinge of envy, the fancy car, the big house, what seems like a perfect family. For some, it’s a fleeting thought, but for others, jealousy can take root and grow into resentment or even anger. These emotions can quietly corrode our peace of mind, our relationships, and even our moral integrity.

Jealousy isn’t harmless. It feeds insecurity, damages trust, and blocks gratitude. Understanding where it comes from is the first step toward healing and contentment.
