🔹Cupping is something I find helpful to integrate into my sessions.

🔹The cups provide consistent suction that lifts the skin and superficial fascia to reduce adhesions, promote local blood flow and support lymphatic movement.

🔹These mechanical effects can decrease muscle tone, increase range of motion and provide temporary relief of any discomfort.

🔹Massage typically includes pressure into the soft tissue, compression, while cupping does the opposite, decompression.

It is a great addition to a session!

Hello! 👋 Well, it’s 2025 and a looooong time since I’ve paid attention to this Instagram, so I figured I would reintroduce myself!

I’m Nicole and I’m the owner and operator of East End Sports Massage. I have been a Massage Therapist for 21 years and have worked on my own for a majority of that time. I owned a sports and medical massage clinic in NYC from 2010 to 2020, when I closed my practice during the pandemic.

I relocated to the North Fork in 2018. I have family roots on Shelter Island and have always loved coming out here since I was little. I finally made the move and am very happy with my decision!

I have always specialized in sports and medical massage treatments. I love working with athletes to help them reach their goals. I also love medical massage to help those with chronic pain or injury because I think it is so important for people to know the CAN live and move pain free.

My own athletic background includes many years of martial arts training (tae kwon do, kickboxing, some MMA and BJJ). I love doing CrossFit, I think the concept of functional fitness is fantastic for people. I am definitely NOT a runner but I did do the NYC Marathon in 2019!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day! ✌️

Your insurance might cover massage therapy! Right now, I know that NYSHIP will pay for 20 visits per calendar year and some Aetna plans also have varying coverage. There may be others that I am not aware of yet though, so it is always worth checking!

Want to get started with insurance? Start here 👇

⚪️ Verification - head to the link in my bio to fill out the verification form which will be forwarded to my billing company

⚪️ Prescription from MD - you will need a proper prescription from your doctor before coming for a session in order to go through insurance. Prescription MUST include: name, DOB, diagnosis codes, treatment plan (ex: medical massage 1x per week for 8 weeks).

⚪️ Scheduling - once your insurance has been verified and you have obtained your prescription, then I can schedule you in. You can always book in online as well, however, the above steps must be completed in order to go through insurance. It is advised to send me your prescription in advance as well, to make sure all necessary information has been included.

⚪️ Copay - I am an out of network provider, so there may be a copay or other out of pocket payment before the deductible has been met. This will be determined and discussed prior to your appointment!

Ready to get started? Use the link in my bio to get you right to the verification form! Any questions? Feel free to email me or send a message! 😀

I run a massage clinic here in Greenport that specializes in sports + medical massage treatments, but what exactly does that mean? 🤔

I focus on athletes (professional, amateur and weekend warriors alike), people who are experiencing chronic pain, or those who have had an injury or are wanting to prevent an injury. The goal is to get you out of pain and restore range of motion so you can get moving again!

A treatment here differs from a spa in that your session would be based on individual goals and would be focused on the areas needing work, or a particular issue. This is NOT a generic full body massage routine!

Sports/Medical massage would be helpful for: back pain, neck pain, TMJ disorders, hip pain, tendinitis, sports related soreness, and more!

Your session would involve hands on work with the addition of any tools/modalities I think might be helpful such as kinesiology taping, cupping, IASTM or topicals.

Want to know if a sports/medical massage session would be right for you? Email me or feel free to send me a message! ✌️

MASSAGE FOR : HEADACHES

Can massage therapy be helpful if you suffer from headaches or migraines? Yes! Read on👇

Headaches and migraines can have many different causes: muscular tension, nerve, food, weather, etc.

Musculoskeletal issues can be major causes of headaches and even if your migraine is nerve/weather related, there is probably also a muscular component as well.

Massage therapy does a great job address tension headaches from muscles in the head, neck and face.

Even if you have true migraines, again, there is most likely also some kind of muscular component that can be addressed with massage therapy.

I have helped many, MANY weekly and daily headache sufferers find some relief, so it’s worth a try!

💧LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE 💧

I’ve had a few questions lately about lymphatic massage so here’s a little info about it!

A lot of people think lymphatic drainage massage is a super deep tissue massage done by knuckles or machines but true lymphatic massage is very much the opposite.

Your lymphatic system is located just underneath the skin, so a proper lymphatic drainage massage is a very light touch massage, only moving the skin. It will usually start at the neck where the main area of drainage for the body is located and possibly incorporate deep breathing as to stimulate the lymphatics in the abdomen.

I sometimes use lymphatic drainage techniques incorporated into my regular sessions, when indicated since I am trained, but I am not a specialist.

If you have some swelling from things like standing or sitting all day, neck and shoulder tightness, post surgery etc a massage therapist like me can help. Your lymphatic system uses breath and movement to help serve as its pump so massage can help if there are restrictions. Massage can also help by moving fluid along in an area, decongesting that particular area to increase lymph flow.

If you have lymphadema from lymph node removal after cancer or any other health related issues, you should see a properly trained in Complete Decongestive Therapy, usually a Physical Therapist. They will be the ones best trained to help in those scenarios.
