Sometimes those little mindless habits quietly sabotage your peace and joy. They may be distracting you from discomfort temporarily , yes, but that’s an avoidance tactic. Then you get on the yoga mat with no distraction, complete quiet or stillness and the thoughts and feelings become overwhelming, so much that you quit or stop. ❤️‍🩹 Is there a mindless habit that might be covering up something that could use a little TLC? Maybe you need a way to process stress and hurt. ❤️‍🩹 Whatever it is, you’re so worth your own deep attention and love!

What if greater ease is a process outcome not a product outcome? For example, because you come to your mat daily and check in with yourself, you experience greater ease as a result of the process, not because you’ve eliminated all the stress but because your relationship to it changes? Sometimes you have to get up close AND pause long enough to really appreciate the little everyday things ♥️ The little everyday things is what this one precious life is made of - not the curated moments we see in our feed. When we don’t feel good in our bodies and are carrying an overload of stress, it’s also harder to appreciate those little everyday things. That’s why the practice of coming to our mat, to our breath, to our attention and intention are so important. It’s a foundation. It’s a commitment… to self care, to self love, to joy amid a chaos. ♥️♥️

Well…the world needs a lot - true! But what we can control is how we show up and inspire others to show up. What if we keep coming back to the deepest parts of ourselves, reconnecting day after day to learn more, to grow, to love? ❤️ That kind of energy is inspiring and magnetic, even when it’s messy. That kind of energy impacts the world in the very best ways. Yes, let’s do that! ♥️

Life is hard enough. Don’t make it harder by being harsh and unkind to yourself. Self compassion doesn’t mean that we don’t hold ourselves accountable if that’s a fear. I’m finding it to be a super helpful midlife skill when things like insomnia or some of the other wild changes occur. Saying something supportive and reminding myself about my resilience and that this is normal is WAY better than holding myself to unrealistic standards and telling myself I am bad or wrong for not being able to meet those standards. ♥️ Wishing you all some of that self compassion and loving kindness this weekend! ♥️
