Cone Health Pharmacy Residency Programs Welcome to the Cone Health Pharmacy Residency page! Follow us for up to date information on what our residents are doing and where you can find us.

Cone Health has been involved in pharmacy residency training since 1968 and we take pride in our long-standing commitment to clinical pharmacy. The philosophy we follow each year is to keep the residency learning experiences diverse yet challenging and have them build upon the strengths of each individual resident. Together we will design a training plan around your knowledge, skills, and interest

s. This plan will provide opportunities for you to be an active rather than passive learner. Our goals include teaching you how to use evidence-based medicine in making patient care decisions, how to meet the medication-related needs of patients, as well as to help you foster the development of many professional relationships that you will treasure for years to come. Lastly, in being a part of the innovative and caring culture at Cone Health, you will be actively involved in making decisions that are aligned with our mission and vision while working on teams committed to creativity and individual initiative. We embrace change that comes with new ideas and multidisciplinary collaboration that keeps our residency training programs strong and at the forefront of pharmacy practice.

Some of our Critical Care team members attended the 2025 SCCM conference in Orlando, where Dr. Madeline Mitchell presented her research on pharmacist productivity during transitions of care from the ICU! Her study detailed the implementation of a TOC I-vent checklist into the ICU pharmacist workflow since 2022. The evaluation demonstrated a statistically significant increase in cost avoidance per patient, a reduction in interventions related to stress ulcer prophylaxis and opiates, and fewer missed TOC interventions per patient. This work highlights the meaningful impact of targeted pharmacist interventions on patient care and resource management! Go Madeline!
