🤎Multicultural Wellness Studio Web Series🤎
Hey yall! I told you I was gonna be ripping and running after I finished this Nursing Degree. We’ve got Ms coming in for the first Webinar with “EmBAWDYed Healing: Sensual and Erotic Movement after Reproductive Health Transitions” on May 7th, 2025 @ 12 pm EST.
I will follow to discuss: “Advocating for Every Drop: NICU Admissions and Lactation Challenges in Communities of Color”. I will be the second in this beautiful series on June 4th, 2025 @ 12 pm EST
Working in the NICU, I learned very quickly about how plans can change for breastfeeding. I’ve seen how prioritization becomes the conversation. It charts a different course of life and postpartum. Even so, there are barriers that can make the road traveled more challenging to we expect. I’m excited to talk about these barriers, provide solutions, for not just the community and their families, but providers and staff who work with this population.
Once again, a preventable death leaves a child and husband without their wife and mother.
Abirami Goyal left behind a husband, Kartikeya, and their newborn daughter, Sahana.

My doula baby has arrived 🥹 His stubborn behind made it earthside and my heart is so full. I am beyond thankful to have had a birth in the thick of all that’s been going on in my life. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions. This is also the only birth I will have between now and May 2025.
It was the reminder I needed about why I’m doing what I’m doing. This nursing school stuff ain’t about me or for my health. It’s for the community. It’s for the families. And I’m so excited to finish school so I can get back to the birthwork I know and love. The work I know I’ve been called to do.

The invisible load of motherhood weighs heavily on moms, making them feel like they are constantly behind.
There’s always more to do–more to clean, more to take care of, more to think about.
The problem is we often don’t even see the invisible load for what it is.
We might realize that we are the default cleaners. But what we don’t realize is that it comes with a world of labor, including:
〰 Developing organizational systems
〰 Knowing where everything is
〰 Dealing with random paperwork
〰 Organizing closets
〰 Making sure the kids have clothes that fit
〰 Managing children’s artwork and school forms
〰 Keeping a mental inventory of items in the home
〰 Cleaning all the things
〰 Managing random clutter
〰 Washing laundry, folding it, and putting it away
〰 Organizing and containing toys
〰 Constantly trying to tolerate the mess
Is it any wonder that moms feel overwhelmed?
This labor is ongoing, demanding, and exhausting.
The never-ending to-do list can make us feel like we are in a never-ending state of stress–and that we will never escape the burden.
But the truth is that we don’t have to do it all–and we shouldn’t have to do it alone.
Our maternal mental health specialists are here to help!

Postpartum care isn't just for moms. Fatherhood is a journey that deserves support and care. Let's normalize better healthcare for dads navigating new parenthood and ensure men are also asking for help when they need it.
Healthy dads mean healthier families.
Prioritizing men's healthcare and postpartum support for dads is essential for family well-being. This month, we will continue to talk about men's health - and ways men can advocate for quality healthcare and support their fellow dads and friends in better health and support.
"It is no secret that your body changes during pregnancy. How many things change during pregnancy that you don’t see? Well, several things do. To say our bodies are a miraculous thing is an understatement. Pregnancy is a perfect example of our body’s amazing potential. A few of these changes you can see, while many others you may not even notice.
The ones you may not notice happening are the ones that cause many common symptoms of pregnancy. Things like acid reflux, needing to empty your bladder (constantly, it seems?) or feeling short of breath during pregnancy are caused by the changes happening in the respiratory, urinary and gastrointestinal systems. Let’s look at all the hidden and obvious body changes during pregnancy."
Some lactating people experience painful or uncomfortable letdowns. If it’s bad enough, it can create an aversion for breastfeeding! If anyone you know is experiencing this, please share 💜

My name is Angelica Knight and I'm so glad you found your way here!
My professional career started with me obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology at UNC-Greensboro, a degree centered around the human body, movement and exercise. I continued onto Graduate School at UNCG with the goal of pursuing a career as an Clinical Exercise Physiologist.
On the journey for my Masters, I noticed early on that the curriculum around pregnant women and exercise was from a general standpoint. It was in my graduate program where I met a Kinesiology Professor at UNC-Greensboro dedicated to studying the relationship of pregnant women and exercise.
Joining the project she was a part of ignited a myriad of experiences and information about pregnancy, childbirth, birthwork, as well my journey to become a doula.
Combining my passions became an innovative way to help a specialized population of women who may have felt they didn't have a resource specifically for their needs.
Advocating for women and creating a safe space for them during such a life-changing event is something to be deeply valued.
Offering them, as well as their families appropriate and comforting support that suit their specific needs offers another layer of support to the mother, who's body is undergoing many changes; this can improve their overall birth experience.
Supporting expectant parents in whatever they need allows me to encourage the positive energy that comes with bringing a child into this world. We want this to be a time to be cherished as well as remembered. As a doula, your journey and comfort is my priority.
