✨We all need a little confidence boost once in a while. When we recognize that our self-esteem could use a bit of TLC, it's helpful to focus on self-compassion, set achievable goals, celebrate successes, and surround ourselves with supportive people. We can also challenge negative thoughts, engage in activities we enjoy, and practice self-care. Remember, building self-esteem is a journey, not a destination, so be patient and kind to yourself throughout the process.

🗣Silencing our inner critic can be really difficult. But it's important to understand that we don't have to let it control us!

Practicing mindfulness and self-compassion helps us acknowledge and accept our thoughts and emotions without judgment. It allows us to treat ourselves with kindness and understanding.

This week, try being kind to yourself and treating yourself with some compassion. Don't let your inner critic take control!💪

Welcome back to another installment of !👋 This month, we're introducing you to our creative intern, Carrie Dyer!

Carrie approaches the therapeutic process through a trauma-informed lens, with special attention to the impact of adversity, neurodivergence, and the healing potential of creative expression. Her therapeutic style is grounded, empathetic, and collaborative, guided by the belief that healing is nonlinear, deeply personal, and made possible through authentic connection. Her passion lies in creating safe, affirming spaces where clients can explore their inner world with curiosity, compassion, and courage. She brings over two decades of experience in creative education and deeply human-centered work.

Carrie’s clinical interests include supporting individuals navigating destabilizing systems, attachment injuries, chronic illness, grief, complex trauma, and major life transitions. She is especially drawn to integrative approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and somatic practices. She is also inspired by Jungian and Existential modalities that explore life’s deeper meanings and how the process of individuation shapes our worldview. Carrie brings lived experience with ADHD and neurodivergence to her clinical work.

Carrie is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Counseling at Wake Forest University and is training in both EMDR and IFS.

In her free time, Carrie enjoys making things by hand, drawing as a way to process the human experience, and meditating under the night sky. She finds joy in deep conversations about space and time, mindfulness through gardening, and listening to eclectic music with her husband and their dog, Luca.

🔄As we head into a new week, tune into when you notice yourself stuck in the rumination cycle. It's when we get trapped in a repetitive loop of negative thoughts, replaying past events, overanalyzing situations, or excessively worrying about the future- without even finding a resolution.

Getting stuck in this cycle can increase anxiety levels, drain our emotional energy, hinder clear decision-making, and impact our ability to cope with stress.

🔴Gaslighting and 🟢Greenlighting are contrasting concepts related to manipulation and validation, respectively. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation where one person tries to make another doubt their own perceptions, feelings, or memories. Greenlighting, on the other hand, is a supportive and validating approach that affirms a person's emotions and experiences.

🔴Gaslighting:
Definition: Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse where one person tries to make another doubt their own sanity, perceptions, or memories.
Goal: To gain power and control over the other person by making them question their reality.
Tactics: Contradicting, denying, lying, and shifting blame.
Impact: Creates self-doubt, confusion, emotional distress, and isolation.
Example: A person repeatedly denies an event happened, even though the other person clearly remembers it.

🟢Greenlighting:
Definition: Greenlighting is a supportive and validating approach that affirms a person's emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Goal: To foster trust, open communication, and healthy relationships.
Tactics: Validating emotions, offering empathy, and encouraging open communication.
Impact: Builds confidence, trust, and promotes healthy relationships.
Example: Instead of dismissing someone's feelings, you acknowledge them and offer support.

🧠💭Your mind is always listening. The stories you tell yourself become the lens through which you see the world. If you constantly repeat, "Nothing works out for me," your brain will search for proof to support that narrative- not because it's true, but because that's what you've trained it to notice. This is confirmation bias.

Here's the powerful part: it works both ways. Start asking, "What if everything is unfolding in my favor?" and your brain will begin to find evidence of hope, progress, and unexpected blessings.

What you feed your mind shapes your reality. Choose thoughts that uplift, empower, and remind you of your resilience. Your mind is a garden- be intentional with what you plant.
