The rain just keeps coming! Sunday night, during a thunderstorm, a tree fell on the tennis courts and power boxes.
The city has done a wonderful job responding quickly and safely. The power is turned off to the park and it will take time to make all of the repairs. Please keep a safe distance from the area and respect any signage/caution tape. The Rock the Block event will still happen Thursday night. Thank you to that team for being creative and problem solving without having access to power.

No need to rush and clean out those garden beds. Wait for warmer weather and the pollinators will thank you! 🐝🦋🐞🪲

With spring arriving, it's tempting to begin working on our yards and gardens. But hold on! Clearing debris & trimming plants too soon can actually harm bees, butterflies, & other important pollinators!

Even if you do see some bees buzzing on early blooms, they still need cover during chilly nights and heavy spring showers. Other species will wait to emerge until much warmer days, well into May.

So when can you unleash your itchy green thumbs and reach for the rake? That answer can vary based on location and annual climate trends. We've curated a list of questions to ask yourself to help determine when the time is right.

Lights out for spring migration! 🐦🐦‍⬛🦅🦉

As we close out 2024 and move into 2025, we are expecting some cold arctic air entering our area. We may be below freezing for a few days, or even single digits. If you have outdoor animals, please consider bringing them inside during these frigid nights.

In anticipation of the cold weather, we are asking for donations of fleece blankets to help keep our shelter pets warm and safe during this time. You can bring your donations to our adoption lobby everyday during business hours.
