👣 Do you wake up with foot pain the moment your feet hit the floor?
You're not alone — and there’s a good reason for it.
Morning foot pain is one of the most common complaints we see at Da Vinci Foot & Ankle, especially among patients dealing with plantar fasciitis, tight calf muscles, or overused arches. That sharp, stabbing sensation when you get out of bed isn’t something to brush off — but thankfully, there’s something you can do about it.
✨ Try This Gentle Morning Foot Routine (takes just 5 minutes):
➡️ Towel Stretch: While still lying in bed, loop a towel or belt around the ball of your foot and gently pull toward you. This stretches your plantar fascia and calf muscles — two of the biggest culprits of morning pain. Hold for 30 seconds, repeat twice per foot.
➡️ Toe Alphabet: Use your big toe to “draw” the alphabet in the air. It sounds silly, but this activates deep muscles, increases circulation, and wakes up stiff joints.
➡️ Toe Crunches: While seated or lying down, scrunch and release your toes — like you’re grabbing a towel with them. Do 10–15 reps to boost foot mobility and reduce tension.
✨ Why it helps:
When we sleep, the plantar fascia tightens overnight. Jumping out of bed and putting full weight on your feet causes microtears and inflammation. These gentle stretches allow your feet to wake up with you, preventing that initial jolt of pain.
👩⚕️ When Should You See a Specialist?
If your morning foot pain persists or gets worse, it may be a sign of something more serious — like chronic plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, or a tight Achilles tendon. That’s where we come in.
At Da Vinci Foot & Ankle, Dr. Menke offers personalized, compassionate care — with modern diagnostic tools and minimally invasive treatment options designed to get you moving again.
