Thanks to the Hale County Health Care Authority, rural healthcare in Alabama is about to change for the better. As the winner of the highest tier of the Diamond Impact Award, Hale County Health Care Authority will launch the Hale County Rural Hospital Innovation Zone, which will achieve the following:
🎓 Launch a hospital fellowship program to teach recent college graduates about rural healthcare systems
🏠 Expand a program to focus on patients transitioning from hospital care to home
🧪 Create intern and apprenticeship opportunities for students at Greensboro High School and the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences
➕ And much more!

This National Rural Health Day, we are thankful for the efforts of those working to expand rural care in our state, especially Hale County Health Care Authority.

Yesterday we had the honor of presenting a special appreciation award to a man whose dedication has shaped Hale County Hospital for more than 35 years.

For over three decades, Mr. Ulysses Johnson has been a steadfast advocate for our community, our patients, and our employees. His leadership, guidance, and heart for service have strengthened our mission and helped us grow into who we are today.

As he retires from the Board, we celebrate not just his years of service—but the impact he leaves behind. His commitment will continue to echo through every life touched by our hospital.

Thank you, Ulysses Johnson, for believing in us, supporting us, and giving so much of yourself to this community. We are deeply grateful. 💙

🌟 More Exciting News! 🌟

We are deeply honored and grateful to share that in September, the Caring Foundation with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama selected Hale County Hospital from among 82 applicants and 22 top finalists from across the state for its Top Tier Diamond Impact Award for 2025.💎🏥

We are so grateful for this incredible recognition and support. It means the world to our team and community. ❤️. It was inspiring to meet health leaders from across the state who are doing such incredible things to improve health in their communities.

We would like to give a special thank-you to Mr. Tim King from the Caring Foundation and Dr. Dow Briggs from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama for their trust and presenting this award to us.

To celebrate, we are sharing a few photos from our CLIMB Academy (Community Leaders in Medicine and Beyond), co-led by our Hale County Hospital Track Fellow, Jada Williams and Horseshoe Farm Fellow, Patty Diaz.

Thanks to the Caring Foundation’s generosity, we have been able to provide CLIMB Academy students opportunities to engage in mentored hands-on service and experiential learning activities including:
✨ Volunteer at local nursing homes
✨ Shadow hospital departments and staff
✨ Assist with Project Horseshoe Farm’s after-school program for elementary students
✨Tour surrounding universities and businesses
✨And so much more to come!

We are so proud of how these young leaders are growing, serving, and climbing toward a brighter future. 🌱💙

🎉 What a Wonderful October! 🍂

October has been a busy and exciting month for all of us at Hale County Hospital and our clinic locations! From community outreach events to the High School Homecoming Parades in Greensboro and Moundville, and our fun-filled Halloween celebrations, we’ve loved every moment spent connecting with our community. 💜

We’re proud to support our local schools, neighbors, and patients — and we’re so thankful for everyone who stopped by to cheer, wave, or celebrate with us!
