The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas

Providing an incredible experience of superior Oral Surgery Care. The practice was created by Dr. William M. Brown in 2006.

It was founded on the principles of compassionate care, innovative techniques, and overarching love for patients and the community overall. In 2011, Dr. Christopher Durham joined the practice and continued the mission of excellence. Dr. Brown then retired in the summer of 2016. Later during 2016, the practice was re-branded to "The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas." Dr. Durham carries on th

e high standards of the profession and continues to give back to the community beyond the walls of the practice. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires additional years of extensive hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from Dental School. Dr. Durham has demonstrated his commitment to the specialty by completing a rigorous board certification process, and is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting and are committed to ensuring that the treatment experience all of our patients receive is as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Dr. Durham manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth teeth and facial regions including:
-surgical extraction of teeth
-wisdom tooth removal
-pre-prosthetic surgical procedures
-dental implant surgery
-diagnosis and treatment of oral and facial pathology
-facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures

❄️Weather Update
Due to winter weather, The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas will open on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, February 3.

Our team will begin seeing patients at 10am to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

Honoring the Life & Legacy of Dr. William M. Brown

It is with deep gratitude and remembrance that we honor the life of Dr. William M. Brown, the founder of what is now The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas.

In 2006, Dr. Brown founded the practice on enduring principles of compassionate care, innovative techniques, and an unwavering love for patients and the community. These values became the foundation of our practice and continue to guide everything we do today.

In 2016, Brown & Durham, DDS was rebranded as The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas, carrying forward Dr. Brown’s vision and commitment to excellence. Our board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and dedicated team remain steadfast in honoring those founding principles—delivering superior oral surgery care while giving back to our community beyond the walls of our practice.

Dr. Brown’s impact lives on through the countless patients he served, the standards he set for our profession, and the mission that continues to shape our work every day.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Brown’s family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
