If you’re trying to work on interactions between little ones lose the toys and focus on people games to make it easier!
Many kids with language delays get so caught up in things and how they “should” be played that they struggle with sharing both the object(s) and their vision. These activities have their place (they are often regulating), but aren’t going to be a good choice when you want to support engagement with others.
Try these:
☀ Chase games: Don’t play to win, just take turns! For young ones, it often makes more sense to have everyone try to chase one child (rather than one person be “it”).
☀ Movement songs: Ring Around the Rosy and Hokey Pokey are classics
☀ Movement games like Duck, Duck, Goose or Musical Chairs (again, don’t focus on winning, it’s ok to have a chair/space for everyone)
☀ Hide and Seek: Start by having all the kids try to find the adult.
☀ Make something up! Pretend to be airplanes flying from place to place on the playground.
