Exciting news from today’s meeting with the Triad Retirement Living Association!
We're thrilled to celebrate the launch of TRLA’s new Community Resource Guide—a valuable tool designed to help older adults and their families across the Triad connect with trusted local services. 💙

Our team at Tailored Brain Health is thrilled to be able to share copies with our clients and visitors.

This guide (and this organization) is such a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together to support one another’s health, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Our recent Blueprint for Brain Health Lunch & Learn with the Center for Outreach in Alzheimer’s, Aging and Community Health was one of the most energizing and meaningful conversations we’ve had.

We explored the science of brain resilience and practical, everyday strategies to support cognitive health — but what made this session truly special was the engagement in the room. Thoughtful questions, shared personal experiences, and rich discussion made it clear this is work that deeply resonates. We easily could have continued well beyond the lunch hour!

One of the most powerful themes was the role of generational influence — how the choices we make today shape not only our own brain health, but also the resilience, habits, and well-being of our families and communities. Building a health legacy is about more than individual change; it’s about lasting impact.

Grateful to be part of this conversation — and we can’t wait to come back. 💜🧠

Over the past few days, I’ve seen an outpouring of posts honoring the impact of Dr. Edna Foa— stories of mentorship, collaboration, and her deep investment in training others. It’s a powerful testament to the reach of her work and the countless clinicians and researchers she shaped along the way. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her.

Her groundbreaking contributions transformed the treatment of trauma and anxiety, but their significance extends even further — offering a framework for understanding human resilience more broadly, and how people heal, adapt, and move forward.

Dr. Foa was a visionary, and someone who never lost sight of the individual journey of healing. To say that I draw on her work every day is not an understatement — and I know I’m far from alone in that.

Her legacy will continue to live on in the field she helped build and in the lives of so many who have found their way forward because of it.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Edna Foa, a true giant in the field of traumatic stress.

Dr. Foa’s groundbreaking work transformed the understanding and treatment of trauma-related disorders, leaving an enduring impact on clinicians, researchers, and countless individuals worldwide. ISTSS was honored to count her as a longtime member, former Board member, and wise leader and mentor. Dr. Foa played a vital role in shaping the mission and work of ISTSS. Her extraordinary contributions were recognized with the ISTSS Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

Her legacy will continue to guide and inspire generations to come. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and all who were touched by her work.

A HUGE thank you to the Guilford County Aging Division, Department of Social Services for the opportunity to speak at their quarterly staff training!

So grateful for the incredible social workers doing such meaningful, often unseen work in aging services — your impact on individuals and families is immeasurable.

We talked about resilience, cutting through the noise of fear-based marketing around cognitive decline, and simple, actionable ways to protect what matters most as we age — our independence, creativity, connection, and mental bandwidth.

This work matters not just for those we serve, but for supporting the resilience of the personnel on the front lines every day. 💜🧠

What a beautiful spring morning for our March meeting with the Triad Retirement Living Association, graciously hosted by WhiteStone Senior Living Community.

This month’s gathering was near and dear to our hearts. TRLA members came together to support The Servant Center, an incredible organization whose mission is to empower individuals who are homeless and disabled—particularly Veterans—through housing, healthcare, and restorative services. 🇺🇸

With several personal and professional connections to military and Veteran communities, our Tailored Brain Health team was honored to participate in the food & supply drive supporting their work. We’re also excited to hear about the incredible progress happening at The Servant Center as they prepare to cut the ribbon on their new housing community.

📍 Greensboro friends: Consider attending their Grand Opening Celebration on Friday March 20th (11AM - 2PM / 1915 Boulevard Street) and help welcome this important addition to our community!

We’re grateful to be part of a network that shows up to support such impactful missions. 💙

Heart health is brain health! We spent the afternoon with some of our favorite residents at Carolina Pines, sharing resources and support for physical and cognitive longevity.

3 simple ways to show your heart (and brain!!) some love:

• Move your body daily — even a brisk 20-minute walk makes a difference
• Fill your plate with colorful fruits, veggies, and whole foods
• Prioritize sleep and stress management — your heart feels it too

Small habits = big impact 💪🫀🧠

Check it out! Well, this is great news for people who love coffee, and it’s also not conclusive that coffee is the main reason for the decreased risk of dementia.

However, this is a significantly sized study of a significant period of time that is linking caffeinated coffee drinkers to a lower risk of developing dementia, which is an interesting and noteworthy finding!

A major new study published in JAMA suggests that moderate consumption of coffee and tea may be linked to a lower risk of dementia.Researchers followed more ...
