COVID-19 Spikes Lead to School Closures Across 3 Districts

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers and medical professionals have maintained that the true end to the pandemic is quite far in the future. With new variants of the coronavirus appearing across the United States, it's needless to say that's true. In areas where COVID-19 is reemerging, some schools are taking precautionary measures to ensure a safe and healthy school year.

Two school districts in Kentucky, as well as another in Texas, decided to end in-person learning and close schools for 1-2 weeks in response to sudden spikes of COVID-19. The severity of these surges seems to be very manageable by the school districts, but these preventative measures were taken in the spirit of caution and safety.

An article posted recently by CleanLink tells the heartwarming story of high school students uniting to raise money for their recently-widowed custodian. "Mr. Billy" -- as the students, faculty and staff have come to know him -- has served as the Lead Custodian of Bullard High School in Texas for years. When the school community heard about the death of his wife, they immediately sprung into action, raising money for him and his five children. Together, the students of the high school presented Mr. Hawkins with a $10,000 check!

Stories like this are so important. While Mr. Hawkins is a direct hire of the school, custodians and commercial cleaners are often outsourced, leaving some to believe that they aren't able to be involved in the communities they serve. The reality is quite the opposite. Your organization's cleaning crews can build relationships with your team, whether they are outsourced or employed directly by your company. They aren't just there to clean; they believe in your mission and are there to provide support for your community.
