Meet Brea! 🐾

Residents at Hillcrest House recently spent time with Brea and her handler, Jim Coleman, during their monthly Pet Therapy visit. Jim and Brea stop by once a month, and it’s quickly become a favorite day around the house.

It's Direct Care Technician Week at Hillcrest House, and we are proud to celebrate Kaitlyn Walters, Residential Team Lead.

For the past three years, Kaitlyn has brought kindness and heart to Hillcrest. She shows up every day ready to support residents in big ways and small ones, always making sure they feel cared for and valued. Her dedication does not go unnoticed. It is felt in the home she helps create.

"There are so many reasons I enjoy this job, from my coworkers to the residents, everyone is just so wonderful and welcoming, but my favorite thing would be how challenging it can be for me," Kaitlyn says. "I've never worked in this field before but with the help of everyone involved, I feel like I've come into my own and still have so much more room to grow and so many more challenges to be tackled!"

Residential Care Manager Miranda Farlow shares: "Kaitlyn’s dedication and compassion show in everything she does. She truly cares about our residents and never hesitates to step in when extra help is needed. Whether it’s taking on more responsibility or handling the unexpected, she always goes the extra mile. We’re so grateful for the heart and commitment she brings to Hillcrest every day."

After decades of treatment and therapy Michael knew something was missing. He felt shuffled around and not seen. That would all change when he became a member of Sanctuary House in North Carolina.

He came looking for community and dignity but has found so much more. He's on the road to recovery AND has wedding bells in his future!

Congratulations to Qadiyr, who has officially graduated and is now working full-time. 🎉 This milestone marks an exciting new chapter in his journey.

Qadiyr is part of our Supported Employment & Education Program, which helps our members receive the education, training, and support they need to achieve their learning and recovery goals. His transition from graduation to full-time employment shows what’s possible when education and workforce support work hand in hand.
