Even though you may have suffered an injury at the scene of an accident, symptoms don’t appear immediately. That’s often the case for whiplash injuries. In fact, you may not feel the full symptoms of whiplash until a few hours or days after the accident. Unfortunately, for the millions of Americans who suffer from this injury yearly, it frequently results in chronic pain and disability. Rather than taking a chance, seek medical attention as soon as possible following an auto accident to give yourself the best chance to recover. Call us to schedule a consultation today.

As warmer weather approaches, it’s essential to ensure you get enough water each day. While most of us know about the health benefits of drinking water, many don’t know that water can help support joint pain relief. Since the cartilage that cushions and protects your joints are mostly water-composed, dehydration can aggravate muscle and joint pain, slow recovery rate, and increase the chances of injury. That’s why people with arthritis must drink plenty of water to prevent joint pain from worsening and easing their symptoms.

While hydration won’t cure your joint pain, it’s a good start. Whether you need help managing your arthritis or are suffering from back or neck pain, call us to schedule an appointment.

Scoliosis refers to the presence of the spine’s S-or C-shaped curves caused by genetics, uneven pelvic positions, or past spinal surgeries that affect up to 9 million people. Depending on the severity of the curve, some individuals will experience no drastic life changes, while others may have aches and pain and exhibit some performance deficiencies. Those with mild forms of scoliosis tend to respond well to certain exercises that can be performed as a part of a treatment plan or at home and can help you avoid surgery. Please consult with your healthcare provider before starting any home exercise program.

Here are some exercises that are great to incorporate into your routine if you have been diagnosed with scoliosis: https://www.webmd.com/back-pain/best-exercises-scoliosis

While this condition cannot be reversed or cured, exercise can play an important role in a personalized treatment plan combined with professional care, such as chiropractic care to help slow its progression and minimize muscle and joint pain. Call us to schedule a consultation today.

Did you know that Americans check their phones on average 344 times daily or once every 5 minutes?

Today, we spend countless long periods scrolling through social media, texting, or checking our latest email while placing a great deal of strain on our necks and not realizing we’re doing so. Over time, the weight of our head can increase to 60 pounds when tilted forward to read your mobile device, placing significant stress on the muscles, ligaments, and joints in the neck. The neck isn't built to withstand that amount of force for prolonged periods; as a result, text neck has become increasingly common.

Text neck can be painful, and its symptoms worsen if left untreated. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to avoid and reduce the symptoms associated with text neck. Here are some tips to minimize the impact of your phone use: https://www.everydayhealth.com/wellness/how-to-beat-tech-neck-and-why-its-so-bad-for-your-health/

Back problems aren’t the only ailment associated with improper posture. Poor posture can affect you in numerous ways, contributing to problems such as headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, poor digestion, and impaired circulation. And as we focus on May as Correct Your Posture Month, we thought it would be the perfect time for a little posture refresher. To help celebrate, we’ve compiled a few tips to help improve your posture when sitting at your desk.

✅ Sit with your back straight and your shoulders back

✅ Relax your shoulders; they should not be rounded or pulled backward

✅ Don’t cross your legs; keep your feet on the floor, with your ankles in front of your knees

✅ Make sure that your feet touch the floor, or if that’s not possible, use a footrest

✅ Rest your forearms on the table while keeping your shoulders back

✅ Keep your elbows close to your body. They should be bent between 90 and 120 degrees.

✅ Your chin should be parallel to the floor, and your ears would align with your collarbone

✅ Gently stretch your muscles

✅ Take brief walks

A herniated disc can occur anywhere along the spine, but the lower back is where it often develops. Wear and tear due to aging, repetitive motions, improper lifting technique or twisting, and excessive weight may alter the structure and function. When the intervertebral disc is damaged, it can press on nearby nerve roots, causing pain, numbness or tingling, and weakness from the back to the buttock and down to the leg.

If you believe you’re suffering from a herniated disc, please don’t hesitate to call our office to schedule an appointment today.

Have you ever woken up in the morning with back pain?

Nobody wants to start their day off with pain. However, that is the case for many, as experiencing an aching back in the morning is common. Typically morning back pain goes away as the day goes on with movement, and it’s often attributed to a poor sleeping posture or a bad mattress.

A good night's sleep is important for everyone, but when waking up to lower back pain in the morning has become persistent and disrupts your daily schedule, an underlying condition may be the culprit. If you notice your pain is worsening, our chiropractors can help you identify the root cause of any back pain you are experiencing and devise a treatment plan to address it. To schedule an appointment, call us today.
