So many women are told their labs are “normal.”

But no one checked the marker that shows early metabolic dysfunction.

Fasting insulin.

I recently reviewed labs for a client that looked like this:

• HbA1c: 5.4
• Fasting glucose: 100

Most conventional doctors would say:
“Everything looks fine.”

But in functional medicine, we know something very different.

we test…

• Fasting insulin: 21

A healthy fasting insulin is usually under 8.
Many experts aim for 4–6 for optimal metabolic health.

An insulin of 21 means the body is working overtime just to keep blood sugar looking “normal.”

This is often when women start experiencing things like:

• stubborn weight gain
• fatigue after meals
• sugar cravings
• brain fog
• inflammation
• hormone imbalance
• stress hormones spikes

And if we ignore it long enough, it often progresses to insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes.

The good news?

This stage is very reversible when we catch it early.

With the right support — nutrition, minerals, sleep, stress regulation, and metabolic repair — the body can become insulin sensitive again.

Because here’s the truth…

Most women don’t crash because they’re lazy.

And it’s not just about salt.

I felt overwhelmed and thought it was a mindset problem! Maybe even willpower!

Now I know……..it was nervous system dysregulation and nutrient depletion.

If you feel this at your core, remember you are not weak! You ARE under resourced!

Healing can be practical, not dramatic, and certainly not perfect.

Where are my high stress / high cortisol sisters?? I see you 🥰

What I’m doing in my routine to help manage stress and lower cortisol.
❤️

1. Walking 20 minutes daily (trying to do it before getting on my phone)
2. Dancing and singing in the kitchen with my little - as much as we can
3. Anchoring my day with 30g of protein within the 1st hour of waking
4. Celery juice or Green Juice
(DM me for recipe) aides in a gentle detox
5. Starting my day with quiet prayer
6. Yoga 3x a week and lifting 2 days
7. Taking personalized daily supplement regimen based on lab results
8. Very limited alcohol intake
9. and my favorite >> Taking a Girl’s trip in sunny Florida ☀️
10. Guarding my sleep like it’s my job! (7-8 hours with mouth taping and magnesium)
