May is National Bike Month! DCMH’s board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, Matthew DeWitt, marked the occasion by donning his Cancer Heroes cycling kit in support of cancer research efforts through the Heroes Foundation.

An avid cyclist himself, Dr. DeWitt understands the importance of staying active and maintaining mobility at every stage of life. With more than 20 years of experience in podiatric medicine, he provides surgical and non-surgical care for conditions affecting the feet and ankles, helping patients return to the activities they enjoy.

The Heroes Foundation supports cancer research, prevention, and patient care initiatives, helping advance efforts that impact individuals and families facing cancer diagnoses.

“Foot and ankle pain is one of the most common reasons people limit their activity, but it doesn’t have to be that way,” shared Dr. DeWitt. “In many cases, early evaluation and treatment can relieve pain and help patients stay active.”

This National Bike Month, consider getting outside, moving your body, and prioritizing your health — and if foot or ankle pain is limiting your activity, know that support is available.

This week, we celebrated Hospital Week, a time to recognize our entire team for the incredible work they do each day to ensure our community receives exceptional care.

Our Rewards and Recognition committee put on a week of fun activities including the employee gift of a picnic blanket, dirty sodas/ energy drinks from Sippin’ Purty, donuts from The Cornerstone Bakery•Bistro•Coffee, BBQ & Ice Cream from The Junkyard - Food Truck and Catering, and a cookout, sponsored by the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County!
