Laurie was nominated by her physical therapist, Conner Hubbard, and physical therapy assistant, Paige Buchanan. Laurie chose DCMH rehab services following a recent hospitalization.

Upon coming to physical therapy, she needed to use a walker and had impaired balance, decreased strength, and decreased endurance. Laurie is eager to learn and always asks how to progress and perform her exercises and abilities in home and community. Her perseverance is inspiring, she has a great sense of humor, fun to work with, and always ready to work hard to achieve her goals.

DCMH is proud to be featured on Empowered, a nationally distributed public television segment hosted by Meg Ryan. This inspiring piece highlights the work of DCMH providers—Dr. Boersma, Dr. Fletcher, Dr. Hasson, and Dr. Slaughter—as they share how DCMH helps patients detect, treat, and overcome breast cancer.

The segment began airing in June 2025 on more than 150 public television stations nationwide and will remain in rotation through 2026. It is also featured during interstitial programming on well-known cable networks.

DCMH’s commitment to breast cancer care is made possible by community support and the generosity of donors to the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County’s Pink Ribbon Fund and Cancer Care Fund. These donations help remove barriers to care, expand access to life-saving screenings, and provide services like transportation assistance for patients in need.

As a board-certified internal medicine specialist, Dr. Fazlani is highly skilled in the diagnosis and management of complex medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, cardiovascular disease, respiratory issues, and autoimmune disorders.

DCMH employees recently took a meaningful step toward prioritizing their own health during a series of free wellness screening events. Thanks to the combined efforts of DCMH’s Rewards & Recognition Committee and the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County. 1,746 free screenings were provided to 291 employees across seven employee-only events held in July.

These screenings were about more than just results—they were about people. From nurses and environmental services staff to technicians, dietary teams, and administrative professionals, employees showed up for themselves and for one another.

DCMH, in partnership with the MCORE Foundation and Giving Hearts A Hand, recently hosted a full-day heart screening event for local youth, providing a potentially life-saving service.

Thirty students from Greensburg Junior and Senior High, North Decatur Junior and Senior High, South Decatur Junior and Senior High, and St. Mary’s Catholic School participated in the screening event, which took place at DCMH HealthConnect located at the Decatur County Family YMCA.

Katie specializes in treating a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, behavioral challenges, health-related stress, and life transitions. She works closely with each patient to create a safe, supportive space and develop personalized goals for lasting growth and resilience.
