Fear not looking in the mirror.

And I don’t just mean physically.

I used to avoid looking at:
✨ my bank account
✨ pictures of myself
✨ my habits
✨ my food choices
✨ my business numbers
✨ my energy levels
✨ the places in my life that weren’t actually working

Now when I was eating well, moving my body, making aligned decisions, showing up consistently in my business and life…

I had NO problem looking 👀

But when things weren’t going well?
That’s when the guilt would creep in.
The avoidance.
The frustration.
The disappointment in myself.

And honestly?
I think so many women live there.

Avoiding the scale.
Avoiding photos.
Avoiding the mirror.
Avoiding the credit card statement.
Avoiding their emotions.
Avoiding slowing down long enough to really ask:
“How am I actually doing?”

I also realized something else…

The same judgment I had toward myself was often the same judgment I carried toward others.

And healing forced me to soften.

Not become lazy.
Not stop taking ownership.

But stop punishing myself into change.

Now instead of spiraling in shame, overthinking, criticizing, or numbing out…
I try to focus on the small choices right in front of me:
💛 the meal
💛 the walk
💛 the breath
💛 the budgeting choice
💛 the workout
💛 the nervous system support
💛 the conversation
💛 the rest

Because awareness is not meant to shame you.

Awareness gives you clarity.

And clarity gives you the power to shift, realign, and move forward differently instead of staying stuck in guilt.

Sometimes the most healing thing you can do is simply become honest with yourself…

The benefits of strength training are SO important 💪🏼✨

Some days I’m so tired I can’t even nap…
Running on broken sleep since 2:30 AM with an 8-month-old and a wild little 3-year-old 😂

And honestly?
Those are the days movement matters MOST.

Not to punish my body.
Not to “bounce back.”
Not to chase perfection.

But because strength training helps me:
✨ regulate stress
✨ support my hormones
✨ improve my energy
✨ build resilience
✨ protect my mental health
✨ stay strong for motherhood and life

And sometimes showing up looks like bringing the baby…

Any “diet” can help you lose weight temporarily.

Literally ANY of them.

But lasting health?
Lasting energy?
A body that feels safe, supported, and sustainable long term?

That’s a completely different thing.

I was recently looking back through my nutrition certification manuals and the exact PROCESS my coaches taught me years ago when I was trying to lose body fat, heal my relationship with food, and actually KEEP the weight off.

And honestly…

I feel SO grateful I learned a holistic approach instead of another quick fix 💛

Because here’s what I’ve seen over and over:

✨ Diets work… until they don’t
✨ Restriction creates rebellion
✨ Most women end up stuck in the cycle of:

I used to think I needed a BIGGER “why.” 🌿

A bigger goal.
A bigger dream.
More hustle.
More motivation.
More pressure.

But honestly?

The more disconnected I became from myself…
the more exhausted, overwhelmed, and emotionally drained I felt.

I kept trying to force myself into someone else’s version of success while quietly losing connection with my own body, peace, and happiness.

And I see so many women doing the same thing now.

Especially the women who:
✨ take care of everyone else first
✨ emotionally eat from stress + overwhelm
✨ feel numb, anxious, or stuck in survival mode
✨ want to feel like themselves again

What changed my life wasn’t chasing harder.

It was finally slowing down enough to ask:
“What do I actually need to feel alive again?”

Not perfect.
Not healed overnight.
Not a different person.

One of the women in yoga shared something today that honestly made me emotional. 💛

Years ago after losing her husband, she started coming to yoga consistently.

Not because she loved yoga.
Not because it came naturally to her.
Not because every pose felt easy.

But because deep down… she knew it helped her.

Every time I’d guide the class to set an intention at the beginning of practice, hers was always the same:

“Be happy.”

For years.

And today she shared that recently while at quilting with friends she randomly opened a quilting book and landed on a design that said:

“Bee Happy.” 🐝

What makes it even more meaningful is that her husband had been a beekeeper.

The rooms energy shifted
One of those moments that just feels bigger than coincidence.

This reminded me that healing rarely happens all at once.

Sometimes healing looks like
showing up to yoga even when it’s hard or incovenient
Breathing through grief.
Coming back again and again.
Allowing yourself to reconnect to joy.

Over the years I’ve watched this woman continue to grow emotionally, spiritually, and physically and even on the days poses are challenging, she keeps showing up.

That kind of consistency is inspiring.
That kind of openness changes people.

Yoga isn’t about perfection.
It’s about creating space for yourself to keep coming home to life again. 💛

Some days healing looks like yoga, meditation, and green juice… 🌿
And some days it looks like deck stain on your shirt, a baby in the stroller, sweat on your face, and laughing your way through the chaos of Malakais shananagins😂🤎
A younger version of me thought wellness meant doing everything perfectly.
Perfect routines. Perfect meals. Perfect mindset. Perfect mornings.
But the deeper I’ve gotten into healing, wige life, motherhood, and life I general…
the more I realize true wellness is being able to stay grounded inside real life.
Not escaping it.
Not waiting until life slows down.
Not needing every circumstance to be perfect before you can feel peace.
This season has stretched me in a lot of ways… but it’s also taught me that healing isn’t about becoming someone else.
It’s about learning how to feel safe, present, and connected in the middle of your actual life.

Your relationship with food affects so much more than your weight.

It affects:
✨ your energy
✨ your confidence
✨ your nervous system
✨ your clarity
✨ your consistency
✨ even the way you show up in your business, relationships, and purpose

I’ve noticed over the years that many women trying to build a meaningful life or business are simultaneously disconnected from the very body carrying them through it.

Constantly stressed.
Running on caffeine.
Skipping meals.
Emotionally eating at night.
Starting over every Monday.
Feeling guilt around food.
Living in survival mode.

And then wondering why they feel exhausted, foggy, inflamed, overwhelmed, or stuck.

Your body is not separate from your success.
It IS the foundation of it.

The goal isn’t perfection with food.
The goal is awareness.

Food can absolutely be:

Most people focus too much on the GOAL and not enough on the SYSTEM.

Goals rely on motivation…
and motivation is about as consistent as Southern Indiana weather 😅

Goals also teach us:

Life has been so full in the most beautiful way 🥹💛
✨ client sessions
✨ consultations
✨ being with our babies
✨ cooking and making healthy teething biscuits
✨ house projects + rearranging spaces
✨ making playdough and planting flowers with the kids
✨ building Root to Rise behind the scenes…

life has felt very real and very sacred lately.

And the energy in sessions recently has been unlike anything I’ve experienced before.

I don’t know what’s in the air right now… women are releasing SO much.

One mom released guilt she’d been carrying after losing a child.

Another woman looked at me after her session and said
“My racing mind just turned off.”

A grandma who had been awake all night with her grandbaby said she felt like she released a ton of energetic heaviness in her right leg and came back to her best self again.

And every single session lately keeps reminding me that
women are not “too emotional”…
they’re carrying too much for too long without support.

This work is so much deeper than relaxation.

It’s women finally feeling safe enough to soften.
To breathe.
To release.
To reconnect to themselves again.

I’m tired in the best way lately 😭💛
