Evening Bingo Fun with Hannah! 🎉🎟️

A couple of times each week, our Activity Assistant Hannah hosts evening Bingo with our residents—but with a fun twist! Instead of playing for prizes each game, residents collect raffle tickets with every win. At the end of the month, we draw winners for some exciting prizes!

📸 Family Photos – A Simple Gift with a Big Impact

When a new resident is admitted, families often ask, “What can we bring?” or “How can we help?”

One of the most meaningful things you can provide is something simple—family photos.

With permission, we love posting these cherished snapshots on our residents’ closet doors. These images from their life before coming to us do more than decorate the room—they open the door to connection.

They give our staff conversation starters: we can ask about loved ones, special trips, favorite memories, or those precious grandbabies. Sometimes, one question sparked by a photo turns into a beautiful conversation.

These photos also remind us that every person here is someone’s mother, father, grandparent, sibling, or friend. They are so much more than a diagnosis or care plan—they are deeply loved individuals with rich stories.

Family photos help us honor that. ❤️

🧠💬 Dementia Support Group – You’re Not Alone

There are so many good reasons to attend our monthly Dementia Support Group, led by the compassionate Carrie McCann, Bereavement Counselor from Rivers/Family Home Health 🌳

Here’s what makes our group special:
✨ It's not just a meeting—it's a growing community of supportive, kind-hearted individuals who truly listen and lift one another up.
🎤 We often welcome guest speakers, including a nurse or chaplain from Three Rivers.
📄 Our latest handout included wellness tips and stress management strategies—Copper even took time to review them himself!
🐾 Oh—and there’s usually at least one friendly dog in attendance!

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 PM.
Note: September’s meeting will be held on September 8th due to Labor Day.

Strawberry Cheesecake Day! 🍓🍰
We’ll find any reason to celebrate—and National Strawberry Cheesecake Day was the perfect excuse!

Students from our most recent CNA class, including Ashley, Savannah, Peyton, and Shannon, joined residents and staff for a sweet treat: strawberry cheesecake ice cream!

Just one of the many perks of working (and learning) here—good company, great experiences, and even better desserts!

Hempfield Manor welcomed a special visit from Kerri Romes, President of HCF, along with other members of our home office team!

To show our appreciation, we hosted a warm and welcoming breakfast spread. Staff were invited to relax, enjoy some delicious food, and connect with one another.

A big thank you to Doug Teske, Chrissy Vensel, and Sally Everett for setting everything up so beautifully and making sure the breakfast was a hit! Your hard work and hospitality truly made the morning special.

Shining a Light on Our Summer Hospitality Aides ☀️❤️

If you’ve noticed a few new faces around this summer, they belong to our incredible hospitality aides—compassionate, hardworking high school students who have truly brightened our halls!

While they don't provide direct care, our hospitality aides play an essential role in the day-to-day life at our community. From passing ice, making beds, organizing and filing, to helping with activities and—most importantly—building meaningful relationships with our residents, they’ve made a lasting impact.

This program is designed to give high school students a glimpse into the world of healthcare, and hopefully spark a passion for a future career in the field. Judging by their dedication, we’d say the future of healthcare is in good hands!

Lois may have said it best during a FaceTime call with one of the aides who was on vacation:
“I don’t know how lucky I got to have all these kids love me. There are maybe six of them? They stop in my room to talk, give me hugs, check in on me, and tell me they love me. I love them too—and they are beautiful!”

🌴☀️ Beach Party Fun!

The sun was shining and the good vibes were flowing at our Beach Party! A huge thank you to Paula and Robert from Three Rivers Hospice for providing the delicious refreshments.
We enjoyed sugared grapes, fruit and cheese skewers, and tropical-inspired mocktails like piña coladas and strawberry daiquiris! 🍓🍍
Staff, residents, families, and friends all agreed—it was an absolute blast!
