CORONAVIRUS OFFICE PROTOCOL
MAY 1, 2020
1. To observe social-distancing requirements, we will limit the number of people in our building at any one time.
2. The inner front door will be kept locked at all times. When you arrive come to the front door and we will unlock it for you.
3. All persons (over the age of 2) entering the building will wear a mask in the office.
4. We prefer that a person comes by themselves into the office, but if necessary, it is okay to have 1 person with them.
5. Everyone entering the building will have their temperature taken with a non-contact thermometer and will use hand sanitizer. If a person’s temperature is over 99.5 degrees, they will not be allowed to enter the building.
6. A person entering for an eye exam will be taken directly into the pre-test room if it is open. We will ask the person not to stop at the front counter or to be seated in a waiting room chair if the pre-test room is available. While the patient is seated in this room, we will ask for copies of insurance cards and have them complete any paperwork.
7. After preliminary testing, the patient will then be taken to the exam room. A member of our staff will then clean and wipe down the room with disinfectant.
8. After the eye examination is completed, the patient will then either go to the frame area to pick out glasses or will stop at the front desk to check out.
9. After the person is finished and leaves the building, a member of our staff will then clean and wipe down the counter and/or frame room desk with disinfectant.
10. After a person has finished selecting a frame, the frames that they tried on will then be disinfected and cleaned.
11. If someone needs to have their glasses adjusted, repaired, or to pick up glasses or contact lenses, please call ahead of time so we can let you know what would be a good time.
12. Anyone needing to remove their contact lenses will be provided a new case and small bottle of multipurpose solution to use. If you are allergic/sensitive to a multipurpose solution, please bring your own.
13. If you or someone in your household has been sick or you have been around anyone sick in the two weeks prior to your appointment, we will expect you to call to cancel and reschedule.
14. Do to the possibility of spreading tears, we will not use the non-contact (“air puff”) tonometer, but use a different, more controlled method to check your pressure.
15. We will have additional hand sanitizer throughout the office.
16. We reserve the right to check for fever and refuse to continue with the exam if we feel that there may be a health issue that is dangerous to our staff or other patients.
