You don't need to be perfect, just present .
This is the time of year where I start to hear parents are starting to gear up for what is about to hit: back to school. Schedules change, after school activities, back to school shopping.... The list goes on. Parents struggle with feeling as though they need to be perfect. I found this post recently and thought it summed up so well with so many of us need to hear:
I’m not the mom who has it all together.
I tried—I really did.
Tried to be the fun one.
The memory maker.
The pancake baker.
The creative little chef hoping to make meals they’d remember forever.
I was hands-on, day in and day out.
Even when I had no clue what I was doing.
Even when I threw like a girl—
I still showed up and threw the ball.
I gave it my all.
But somewhere along the way…
I realized maybe I’m not that mom.
Not the organized one.
Not the tidy-up-tight, meal-prepped-right, color-coded kind.
Not the best dressed or the one whose house smells like fresh pine.
But I am his mom.
The one who shows up.
The one who tries again.
The one who cheers the loudest and loves the deepest.
So quit comparing.
You are the best mom for your child.
Hand-picked. Heart-matched. Heaven-approved.
You weren’t meant to be like the others.
You were meant to be you.
Messy bun, late run, but still got it done.
And that?
That’s more than enough. 🫶🏼

* Included is a picture of many, many moons ago. When my children were young. We were about to crawl through darkness & mud, taking my boys & their cub scout dens spelunking. I was just trying to figure it out and do my best, knowing that inside I feared what as so many parents feared, that it wasn't good enough. Message: Your kids don't need a perfect parent, they need you to be present. Hold your heads high, you are enough.❤️ Diane
