✨ Added to the Toolbox ✨

I’m excited to share that I am now offering EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) as part of my holistic wellness sessions. 🌿✨

EFT Tapping is a mind-body wellness practice that combines focused attention with tapping on specific points on the body. In holistic wellness work, it may be used as a supportive tool for stress management, emotional grounding, self-reflection, and increasing mind-body awareness.

I’m always grateful to continue expanding the wellness tools I can share with those seeking grounded, supportive, and holistic approaches to personal growth and well-being. 💫

Disclaimer: EFT Tapping is offered within holistic wellness services and is not psychotherapy, counseling, medical treatment, or crisis care. Holistic wellness sessions are separate from clinical mental health services and do not establish a therapist-client relationship.

✨ New Holistic Additions at Shadowhaus ✨

The holistic side of the space continues to evolve towards a more grounded, intentional area for rest, reflection, and wellness experiences. I’ve recently added a few new elements designed to support comfort, relaxation, and energetic balance for the non-clinical side of Shadowhaus:

🔴 Red Light Wellness Panel – A gentle ambient light source that creates a warm, calming atmosphere and invites the nervous system to slow down and settle. The red light panel in this space uses a combination of 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared wavelengths, which are commonly chosen in wellness settings because they provide a gentle, low-intensity light experience that feels grounding rather than overstimulating. The visible red light creates a warm, calming ambiance, while the near-infrared wavelength is not visible to the eye but contributes to a deeper sense of comfort and relaxation during sessions. These settings were intentionally selected to support a soothing sensory environment, aligning with the restorative, reflective nature of holistic wellness experiences offered here, rather than clinical or medical treatment.

🌎 Grounding Blanket – Designed to help you feel more connected, supported, and centered during holistic sessions or quiet restorative moments.

🧂 Himalayan Salt Lamp for the Feet – Beyond its soft glow, the natural salt surface is generally inhospitable to many microbes due to its mineral composition, which is why it doesn’t require the same type of cleaning as typical surfaces between uses.

Every addition is chosen with intention to create a space that feels safe, soothing, and aligned with the holistic side of Shadowhaus while honoring clear ethical boundaries between clinical counseling and wellness offerings.

Disclaimer: Holistic wellness experiences offered in this space are self-pay only, non-clinical and are not psychotherapy, medical care, or mental health treatment. These features are intended for relaxation, personal comfort, and educational or wellness purposes only and are not meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical or mental health condition.

🤍 Grief doesn’t move in straight lines, and it often changes shape rather than disappearing.

I often tell people that grief behaves more like waves than silence. Certain smells, songs, dates, or memories can suddenly activate the nervous system, creating a spike that feels intense and unexpected. That reaction isn’t a failure or a setback, it’s your body responding to attachment and meaning.

Healing isn’t about stopping the waves.
It’s about learning how to stay grounded and float when they come.

Over time, many people find that while the waves may still appear, their capacity to regulate, breathe, and reconnect with safety grows stronger. That’s not moving on, that’s integration.

🔺The Cognitive Triangle 🔻

When people hear “CBT” or see the Cognitive Triangle, it can sound abstract or overly clinical. But this model is really just a way of understanding how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors constantly influence each other, especially during stressful or uncertain times.

In the first image, you’re seeing an unhelpful cycle that many people fall into without realizing it. A thought like “The world is falling apart and nothing I do matters” doesn’t stay contained in the mind. That thought feeds emotions like hopelessness, overwhelm, or numbness. Those emotions then shape behavior by pulling away from people, disengaging from meaningful activities, or giving up on planning for the future. Over time, the behavior reinforces the original thought, and the cycle tightens.

The second image shows what a more balanced cycle can look like. Notice that the situation hasn’t magically improved. The world may still feel heavy. But the thought shifts to something more grounded: “A lot is wrong in the world, but my choices still matter in the spaces I touch.” That shift doesn’t erase emotion, it allows for emotions like cautious hope, connection, and steadiness to coexist with reality. From there, behavior changes: re-engaging with routines, setting boundaries around media consumption, and investing energy where values still live.

This is an important point: CBT is not about blaming feelings or forcing positivity. It’s about noticing patterns and gently interrupting the ones that keep us stuck. When one corner of the triangle shifts, even slightly, the others often begin to shift too.

You don’t have to change everything. Sometimes changing one thought, one behavior, or one daily choice is enough to loosen the cycle and create breathing room.

“What Gets Carried”

Margery noticed the shift as soon as she entered the space.

No one was speaking loudly. No one appeared upset. Still, something felt unsettled. A sharp response here. A tight silence there. Margery found herself paying close attention to everyone’s tone, adjusting her own words carefully, staying alert to what might happen next.

She remained steady outwardly. She listened. She nodded. She tried to keep things calm. When she finally left, nothing had gone wrong. Yet her body felt tense, and her mind felt crowded. The weight stayed with her longer than the interaction itself.

This is the moment where awareness turns inward.

One thing therapy gently teaches is that noticing the emotional state of others does not make you responsible for carrying it. Sensitivity can be a strength. It allows for understanding, connection, and care. At the same time, it can quietly blur the line between awareness and responsibility.

You can register what is happening around you without taking it into yourself. You can remain present without holding emotional tension that is not yours. Learning to tell the difference between what you notice and what you carry is part of protecting your own steadiness.

Awareness does not require self-sacrifice. Care does not require depletion.

Nothing needs to be resolved right now. Simply noticing is enough for today.

📝 Journal Reflections:

1. When you leave an interaction feeling unsettled, what do you tend to notice first in yourself: your body, your thoughts, or your emotions?

2. How do you usually know when something feels like it belongs to you versus when it feels like something you picked up from the environment around you?

3. What helps you return to your own sense of steadiness after being around heightened emotions, even in small ways?

🔊 Sound Notice: This post contains the tones of a singing bowl. Please lower your volume or skip if you are sensitive to certain frequencies.

Three strikes.
Three vibrations.
Nothing more needed.

Each tone rises, expands, and fades on its own time, no rushing, no fixing. In therapy, we often work the same way: noticing what shows up, allowing it space, and trusting that the nervous system knows how to settle when it’s given steadiness and rhythm.

The sound of a Tibetan singing bowl doesn’t demand attention, it invites it. For a few seconds, there’s something simple to anchor to. A pause between thoughts. A reminder that regulation can begin with just listening.

This isn’t about doing it “right.”
It’s about letting the body hear something consistent, grounding, and calm—three times in a row.

Sometimes that’s enough to reset the moment.
Sometimes it’s enough to take the next breath.
