We here at Barkley Funeral chapels are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Odell, co-owner of Swingle Odell funeral home, in Neoga.
Bill was more than a colleague in our profession, he was a true friend. Always willing to lend a hand, Bill was kind, generous, and had a sense of humor that could brighten anyone’s day.
Our profession is built on compassion and service, Bill embodied those qualities every day. He cared deeply for the families he served, and for those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Neoga area has lost a man that cared deeply for his families and community. He will be greatly missed both personally and professionally. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his staff, and to all those who knew and loved him.

Today we would like to take the opportunity to recognize and congratulate Austin Ryan Light on a very special accomplishment. Austin has officially completed his coursework and internship and is now a fully licensed funeral director and embalmer. Austin first started working with us during the summers while he was in high school. A couple of years ago Austin made the decision to pursue this work as his professional career and we could not be more proud. Over the past few years we’ve had the privilege of watching him grow, learn, and develop a true passion for serving our families. We are incredibly proud of Austin not only as a member of our team, but also as our nephew. Watching him achieve the milestone and step into this profession means so much to all of us. Please join us in congratulating Austin on this accomplishment and wishing him the very best as he continues this next chapter in his career.
