Just Say Something

Just Say Something JSS works to prevent children and youth from using alcohol, tobacco and other harmful substances.

Just Say Something (JSS) is a 501(c)3 community-based organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors designed to get parents involved because they are the first line of defense in "keeping kids off drugs". Through JSS, parents and communities work together to encourage all segments of the community to be aware of the need to prevent and intervene on an ongoing basis. JSS's mission is to "keep kids off alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs by educating and partnering with families and the community.

Great turnout at the recent New Image Church Resource Fair!

We loved connecting with both church members and members of the community and sharing more about the work we do at Just Say Something. Events like this are such a powerful reminder of how important it is to come together, start conversations, and support one another.

A special thank you to Stacey Ashmore for representing Just Say Something and managing our table so well! 💙

Prevention doesn’t always look like a big conversation.

Sometimes it looks like dinner at the table.
A quick car ride.
A simple “how was your day?”

Those small, everyday moments? They matter more than we think.

They build trust. They create connection. And that connection is what helps kids make better choices when it really counts.

This week on the Just Say Something Podcast, I talk about why family dinners, car rides, and consistent presence are some of the most powerful prevention tools we have.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up.

Listen now on Apple Podcasts and other major platforms and maybe start with one small moment today.

We're re-posting this podcast episode because it's that important.

Va**ng has changed, and many parents don’t realize just how different it looks today. Devices are smaller, easier to hide, and often marketed in ways that make ni****ne seem harmless to teens.

In this episode of the Just Say Something Podcast, we talk about what parents need to know right now, including warning signs to watch for, how va**ng is being disguised, and how to start honest conversations without turning it into a fight.

We also share helpful local resources, including Smokefree SC, Compass of Carolina, and other prevention partners working to support families in our community.

This conversation isn’t about panic. It’s about awareness, connection, and prevention that starts at home.

🎧 Listen now on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your favorite podcast platform, and share with another parent who needs to hear it.

đŸŽ™ïž New Episode of the Just Say Something Podcast!

In this episode, Phillip Clark sits down with longtime Just Say Something team member Stacey Ashmore to talk about the IMPACT Youth Sports Program and the difference it’s making for kids in the Greenville community. From soccer and flag football to basketball, IMPACT gives youth ages 6–12 a safe place to learn new skills, build confidence, and develop leadership and character.

Stacey also shares how the program connects with local schools, why creating opportunities for kids to simply have fun matters, and how families can get involved in upcoming seasons.

âšœđŸˆđŸ€ If you care about supporting youth and building stronger communities, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

March 11 is National No Smoking Day.

Not a day for shame.
Not a day for lectures.
It's a day to pause.

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., and ni****ne addiction is real, powerful, and complex. Quitting isn’t just about willpower. It’s about support, compassion, and sometimes multiple attempts.

The good news? The benefits of quitting start almost immediately. It’s never too late to make a change.

If you’re thinking about quitting, even just thinking about it, that matters.

If you don’t smoke, reach out to someone who does. A simple “I’m here for you” can go a long way.

This week on Just Say Something, I talk about awareness, addiction, and how change can start with just one day.

Camp Mariposa provides a safe, supportive weekend experience where kids can build resilience, connect with peers who understand their journey, and develop healthy coping skills, all at no cost to families.

We’ll soon be sharing more details about camp dates, referrals, and volunteer opportunities. Stay tuned and help us spread the word.
