Mother's Day can be a delightful experience for so many, but for others, it is a stark reminder of the loss they have endured.

Remind yourself to be mindful of those who have lost a child, experienced a miscarriage, or struggled with infertility. David Kessler provides a beautiful platform for those in all types of grief. This link will lead you to a registration page for his mother's day event.

I hope you will reach out if you need this support. He brings so much experience and, unfortunately, a significant loss of his own that first brought him into this grief space.

This time of year can be such a challenge. My inbox and social media feed is already full of Mother's Day messaging. It can be overwhelming to so many of us who are grieving the death of a mother or are in grief after a child has died.

ACTION ALERT!!
This would be so helpful to provide Mental Health care! Please consider taking action on this issue. This info is sourced from NASW.

H3752 Social Work Interstate Compact has been scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, February 26th at 9:00am with the L.C.I. Business and Commerce Subcommittee. Now is the time for all Social Workers to contact their Representative and ask them to vote YES on H3752. For LCI House of Representative Members House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and to find your Representative South Carolina Legislature Online or South Carolina Legislature Online - Member Biography

Feel free to use this drafted language below when you email or call your Representatives!

Dear (Input your Representative Name),

H.3752, Social Work Interstate Compact, was referred to the House of Representatives LCI Committee on January 15, 2025. (Insert your own language about why this bill is so important to you or feel free to use what I have drafted). With the mental health crisis that our state and nation is currently facing and the shortage of clinicians in our state, this bill if passed would help increase public access to social work services. This bill would also improve the continuity of care for clients when they travel or relocate to other states, would be supportive of our military spouses when they are relocated, and enhance the mobility of social workers. This legislation would expand the employment opportunities in SC. We want nothing more than for South Carolina social workers to have this opportunity to be able to serve as many clients as possible.

I respectfully request that you vote YES on H. 3752 Social Work Interstate Compact, in hopes that this important legislation can be passed this session.

Helene's impact in the Upstate has left many of our neighbors without access to vital resources like food, water and shelter. To respond to our community's need, we have launched the United Way of Greenville County Community Relief Fund.

Give today at unitedwaygc.org/uwgc-relief

100 percent of your gift to this fund will support these efforts to get resources into the hands of Greenville County non-profits and families struggling right now.

We are also helping families navigate local resources. If you or someone you know needs non-emergency assistance, please contact 2-1-1 by dialing 2-1-1 or texting "HELP" or "AYUDA" to 211-211.

We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Our team and our community are working hard to help in any way we can.

Are you feeling increased anxiousness and an extra urgency for the need to be in control? Needing control may come from many reasons that could include safety, past truamas, or managing overwhelm.

When you can not control the situation, your anxiety, fear, and panic grows. One tip to manage your emotions is to ask yourself this one question, "What can I control in this situation?" It may be only your breath or a small piece of the issue.

Recognize what is in your control and stop trying to hold the things that are not in your control. By identifying one thing you can control, even if it is only breathing, you can lower your blood pressure and heart rate which lowers anxiousness. This may be the the one small thing to keep you engaged to take the next step.

Small steps!
