To celebrate International Women's Day I would like to share the story of Jane Honikman. In the 1970's Jane became a mother and although overjoyed she struggled to cope and function in her new role. She soon realized the extreme need for support of women throughout their pregnancy journeys and into motherhood. Jane helped found Postpartum Education for Parents and in 1987 founded Postpartum Support International (PSI). PSI was created from Jane's home, from a landline, where she herself would answer women's calls who were in need of help. Today PSI reaches over 40 countries and continues to be one of the biggest educational and supportive resources for women. Let this be a reminder of how strong, brave, innovative and supportive we are as women!
