Real Christmas Trees Myth #1:
- Christmas Tree Farms kill trees.

Truth:

Christmas Trees are a crop, much like farmers grow corn, beans and other vegetables/fruits. They cut, and replant which means the following:

1. They consume Carbon Dioxide and produce oxygen. Fake Trees are made with petroleum products and add more Carbon Dioxide to the atmosphere when they are disposed of.

2. Real Christmas Trees reduce erosion and pollution.

3. Renewable, recyclable and biodegradable.

Did you know 🤔 Most fake Christmas Trees are manufactured in China, are not biodegradable and fill up our landfills with petroleum based materials?

Support our planet and our American economy by purchasing a real Christmas Tree this year if you can. Besides that, they smell amazing and make for an amazingly memorable family tradition 💕

Conovers Collasal Asparagus in #1 Gallon pots. 3-4 plants per pot. 1st year plants started in February 2024 (seed grown, organic). $15/ea - plants are sold healthy and in good condition - no warranty. 18 available.

Provide a well-drained bed of loose soil in full sun.
Transplant seedlings 6 inches apart.
Be sure to keep weeds under control and keep the bed well worked. The final bed should be well worked, amended with plenty of good compost and located in full sun.
Plants should be set 2-3 feet apart and 2-3 inches deep.
Mulch around plants and allow them to grow undisturbed for 2 years in order to let plants become established.
Keep well watered but not soaked.
Avoid the temptation to harvest asparagus until the third year of growth, cutting the shoots with a sharp knife when they are less than 10 inches tall.
PESTS/SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

To avoid rot and fungal issues, plant in good quality soil that is well drained.
Try to orient your row or bed in the direction of the prevailing wind to keep foliage dry.

What's growing? We have Skullcap! And they're beautiful 🤗 Red Goji!!! And Zaatar! (Yes, like the seasoning 😉) Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) and Red Goji are zone 5B perennial hardy and the Zaatar will need to be brought inside during the winter. We have a selection of decorative pots if you want to pick one up when you take them home.
Do your own research on the benefits of these, we're not growing them without reason 😉 All organically grown, of course!

As they are, $8/ea or 2 for $15.

Price will change when they get upsized pots so act quick 😁

Our (26) Elecampane were taken from their cozy seedling trays yesterday and they seem to be handling the transfer well.

Elecampane (Inula Helenium) is a perrenial to us here in 5b. It grows 3-6 ft tall and 2-3 ft wide.

"People have long used elecampane root and other species of the Inula genus of herbs in folk medicine to thin mucus, suppress coughing, promote sweating, alleviate vomiting, and kill bacteria." (healthline.com)
It has been used widely for symptoms of asthma, whooping cough and lung disease. It helps loosen mucus from the lungs.

And she's just beautiful in a garden!

We'll be getting more started. We will always find a home for her in our own gardens 😍
