Folds of clambering Naturally unclothed By relentless pause. — Glimmering showers Giving way in all directions; Synchrony: moving out and in. — This is the Earth (Space being heard) There is no sound, but only listening.

Breath is the cool light of an invisible flame; There is no effort to be in its delicacy: "Trying" is hindrance. -- The natural shape of its stream Is the entrance to yourself In which you leave yourself, And through which you arrive where you are. -- Do not move, Do not want, Do not anticipate, And it will be known; And it will be.

"Yes" is the in-breath; They are affirmation, unity, and something to hold onto. "No" is the out-breath; They are negation, distinction, and letting-go. Surrender is the pause that leads to the in-breath from the out-breath; Where neither “yes” nor “no” is uttered — But all is held in Silence, and all is found in the not-looking: Practice this.

The sunset is behind me as I take these pictures. It appears as though I am facing a blazing sunset somewhere behind the clouds in this image — the background clouds are just glowing away. But the sun is at my back — I am facing away from the sunset: the natural and graceful daily-death of that great source of light and warmth....

Most of practice is wasted effort. The "trying" is what keeps us spinning. It also can't be done without pushing; without urgency and striving. But the Goal is non-attachment to any "goal". "Just-Sit", they say. "Do-Nothing". Be steadily present with the feelings and intentions that shake the waters of contentment. What is learned through this effort of non-effort is a way of letting drivenness drive itself out (like a child who is too tired to think straight)......

A passage from Thomas Merton’s “New Seeds of Contemplation” (pg 65) Christ prayed that all men might become one as He was one with His Father, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit. Therefore when you and I become what we are really meant to be, we will discover not only that we love one another perfectly but that we are both living in Christ and Christ in us, and we are all One Christ. We will see that it is He Who loves in us.

Utter simplicity; total impossibility. Maybe TOO simple.

Quick. (comfortably) Fleeting. Restful. DEEP. Infinitesimal. Source of strength. A pit. When the line of attention is traced back to itself, matters of "this is happening" and "this isn't happening" are rendered irrelevant. It is as though, in the search for Light, Darkness gleams and (silently) screams through the slivered cracks of experience revealing a wholeness: an infinite hole of stillness and perfection. James 4:8- Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. We love to parse apart and analyze in order to make sense of things. It is our way of conceptually "owning" as much as possible, and this is a self-protective maneuver against the uncontrollable reality of existence — this is how we take care of ourselves. Romans 8:26- The Spirit helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. The Spirit grants each of us the experience of a flowing mind. The Spirit can be viewed as being "strong" or "entering us" (and that's just fine), but rather than seeing this as a description of material "spirit stuff" moving into the physical space of our bodies or "spiritual space" of our souls, we might best see this as a great way to illustrate the unimaginable or to outline the formless through the words that can actually be spoken. “My Grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2nd Cor 12:9 Being "born again" (Layperson's Disclaimer: These thoughts are just from the perspective of an "aspiring contemplative" and a "still-green" meditation coach — I am in no way a scholar or theologian.) What is it to be “born-again”? It may make sense to understand being "born-again" as simply meaning to experience a reformation of oneself; a transformation into a different version of being; or a growth into the new state that make me, "me" (like an acorn turns into a tree).
