Myopia (pronounced: my-OH-pea-ah) or nearsightedness, is an eye condition in which objects far away appear blurry and objects closer appear clearer. According to recent studies, about 30% of the world’s population has this nearsightedness condition which will only continue to rise. In children, nearsightedness has become more prevalent and is emerging at a much younger age than it has before. It is extremely important that we try to manage the condition or slow its progression down to prevent the condition from getting worse, especially in younger children. Glasses and contact lenses are two of the most common ways to manage this condition. Please do not wait until you or your child’s condition gets worse. Call our office today at 920-560-3937 to schedule your eye exam and see what we can do to help you!

Healthy Vision Tip #1 - Sunglasses
Wear sunglasses when you are outside to protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays emitted by the sun. These UV rays can cause Cataracts, Macular Degeneration, and Photokeratitis (sunburn of the eye). Other benefits of sunglasses are the prevention of migraines and blurry vision from overexerting the eye’s muscles from the sunlight’s brightness, protection from debris like dirt and bugs, and they just make you look darn good. Most vision insurance allows patients to use their benefits for prescription sunglasses. Protect your eyes this summer with some cool shades by calling our office to discuss your insurance coverage and schedule your appointment.
