Spring is in the air... and so are billions of tiny pollens that trigger allergy symptoms in millions of people!

The best way to reduce allergy symptoms is to avoid common triggers... if pollen allergens start to bother you, try:

• Limiting outdoor time when pollen levels are high.
• Keeping windows closed at home and in the car.
• Shower after being outside to wash pollen out of your hair before bedtime (Otherwise, pollen may bother you all night.)

We know healthy eating plays an important role in supporting children’s growth, development, and overall health. It doesn’t mean giving up our favorite treats. It’s okay to enjoy sweets sometimes, since we all do!

Healthy habits can start small, start by encouraging kids to ā€œeat the rainbow." It doesn't have to be complicated; a colorful plate is a great place to begin!

If you have questions about your child’s nutrition, feel free to give our office a call or schedule an appointment to talk with your child’s provider.

We know losing an hour of sleep this past weekend wasn’t easy!

The time change may cause a few drowsy days, but most kids adjust within about a week. Try to keep healthy sleep habits in place by limiting screen time before bed, sticking to a consistent bedtime routine, getting plenty of movement during the day, and spending time outside. Natural light can help reset your child’s internal clock after a time change.

These simple steps can help your child adjust, but if sleep problems continue, talk with your pediatrician! ā˜€ļø

Did you know the toys your child plays with can support healthy development?

The AAP states in general the best toys are those that match children’s developmental skills and abilities and further encourage the development of new skills!

Virtual toys (such as apps and screen games) are designed to replace physical toys. However, electronic media exposure has been associated with increased risks such as: Promotion of aggressive behavior, Desensitization to violence, and increased risk of obesity.

Play doesn’t have to be high-tech to have a high-impact... if you ever have questions about age-appropriate toys or healthy screen habits, our team is always happy to help!
