We are so proud to have the image "Idiopathic Uveal Effusion Syndrome" by Jordyn Beckman, Eric Williams, and Pauline Merrill win this award. Dr. Merrill accepted the award this weekend on Jordyn's behalf. Congratulations!

Meet Katie, one of our talented technicians who has been with RCC for 3 years! She primarily handles diagnostic testing and imaging in our Anderson office. A longtime member of the RCC family, Katie has actually been a patient here since she was 8 years old! Outside of work, she loves what she calls her “grandma hobbies”, crocheting, sewing, reading, and baking. She loves spending time with her husband Zach, their two cats, and their dog. She’s also into yoga, hiking, video games, and exploring new coffee shops. We’re so lucky to have Katie on our team!

Today’s “Employee Spotlight” is Virginia Gebhart! Virginia has been with RCC for nearly 4.5 years and currently works as a technician, photographer, and sonographer. Her daily responsibilities include imaging procedures such as color and autofluorescence photography, fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, slit-lamp photography, B-scan ultrasounds, and ultrasound biomicroscopy. A self-proclaimed photography nerd, she loves submitting her images to different contests and scientific exhibits and has received “Image of the Week” recognition from the ASRS Retina Image Bank for six of her submitted photos. Outside of work, Virginia enjoys photographing weather phenomena, spending time outdoors, and is currently learning the art of astrophotography. She also spends her free time competing in shooting sports with her husband and making homemade marshmallows! We are so lucky to have Virginia as part of our team!

We are excited to have Shakhirah Nesmith as our first employee spotlight! Originally from Johnsonville, SC, Shakhirah has been an Ophthalmic Technician for 8 years and a valued part of RCC for 5 of those years. She plays a key role in patient care, new hire training, and diagnostic studies. Passionate about helping others, she lives by the quote, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Outside of work, she loves traveling—her adventures have taken her to places like Sicily, Guyana, and Jamaica. On weekends, she runs her own cleaning business, "Abso-Lucy Clean". She's also a proud mom to two beautiful children, Rhyland and Kaisyn! We are so grateful to have her on our team!

We are excited to welcome Kody Hall to Retina Consultants! Kody brings 6 years of experience in medical billing, with skills ranging from intake and scheduling to claim follow-up and collections. He previously worked in both pediatric therapy and mental health settings, which gave him the opportunity to connect with a wide range of patients and develop a strong foundation in trauma-informed care. Outside of work, Kody enjoys spending time with his two cats, Louis and Coco, as well as reading, cooking, watching movies, and attending concerts and live shows. We’re thrilled to have Kody as part of the RCC team!
