Spring in Greenville is gorgeous. 🌸

Magnolias, camellias, redbuds, tulips — everywhere you look, something is blooming.

While we’re admiring the flowers, tree pollen is quietly filling the air, which is one reason Greenville was recently ranked #10 in the country for seasonal allergies.

The flowers you see usually aren’t the biggest allergy triggers — their pollen is heavy and mostly carried by bees.

The pollen that causes most spring allergies is wind-carried, meaning it travels easily through the air and ends up everywhere.

If your allergies seem worse this time of year, you’re definitely not alone.

One simple tip that helps:
🚿 Shower or change clothes after spending time outside.

Pollen sticks to hair and clothing and can keep triggering symptoms even after you come indoors.

Spring in the Upstate is beautiful.
Your sinuses might disagree.

Say hi to Hannah 👋

Hannah Sluiter, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant, Upstate native, and officially part of the ADAC team. She’s thoughtful, thorough, and very good at what she does.

Outside of work, she’s into needlepoint, cooking something new, and the occasional (okay, frequent) thrift or estate sale stop.

We’re excited to have her here!

Around here, spring allergies don’t wait for spring. They usually show up early — often while winter still has a say. Tree pollen comes first, with oak, pine, and cedar leading the charge.

A few things tend to help when pollen starts creeping up:

🕰 Starting medications early — before symptoms really kick in — often works better than trying to catch up later.

🚿 After spending time outside, changing clothes or showering can help keep pollen from following you through the house.

🏡 Indoor air matters more than most people realize. Closed windows on high-pollen days, clean filters, and fresh bedding all add up.

🔁 And if this feels familiar year after year, that’s worth noticing. Timing is often the clue.

📊 If you’re curious what pollen levels look like on any given day, our pollen counter on the website updates daily.

Spring allergies tend to build quietly. Paying attention early can make the rest of the season feel a lot easier.

Seasons feel different lately. And you’re not the only one who’s noticed.

Here’s to hoping that this year allergies feel better than usual! 🤞

This is the part that trips people up.

Colds and allergies share a lot of the same symptoms, so it makes sense that they get lumped together. The difference usually shows up in the timeline.

A cold comes and goes. Allergies tend to hang around, even when you think they shouldn’t.

Paying attention to how long symptoms last can be surprisingly helpful.

The groundhog can say whatever he wants.

Around here, allergy symptoms usually show up on their own schedule.

If things feel ongoing instead of seasonal — the lingering congestion, the on-and-off cough, the breathing that feels a little off — there’s usually a reason.

Patterns tend to tell the story.
