Scammers are everywhere and they know all the tricks. If you have someone who may not be as computer illiterate and be able to spot phishing emails… please talk about this with them today!
☝ Why It Matters
File extensions (.exe, .scr, .zip) indicate the type of file.
Cybercriminals often disguise malware as common files (e.g., a fake invoice like ".pdf.exe"). Opening unknown or suspicious extensions can lead to ransomware or data theft.
👀 How to Check
Hover over the file name or right-click → Properties to see the full extension.
Be cautious of double extensions (e.g., "report.pdf.exe"). Only open files from trusted sources.
👍 Safe Extensions
Common safe types: .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .jpg.
Avoid executable files unless you’re 100% sure of their origin.
