Yes, we check your legs before we adjust your spine.
When we do leg checks on a parent, we may even ask the child to come and assess with us. “Which one do you think is shorter?”
When doing a sacral assessment, bend the knees, we can show the child if one side seems uneven.
When the subluxation is cleared and we are checking post-adjustment, we’ll again ask the child if the legs are even. “Yes!” The child will exclaim.
This is such a powerful way for children to understand what we’re doing - and also for parents to realize that even a child can see the difference an adjustment makes!
These assessments are important to giving you a specific adjustment as they inform us what’s going on higher up in the spine. This is due to the deep ligament connections where the spinal cord is anchored to the bone.
Often, an upper cervical adjustment alone can bring other segments into alignment, causing your leg length to be even!
