✨ Provider Spotlight: W***y C. Tsai, M.D. ✨

W***y C. Tsai, M.D. is a nephrologist at Carolina Nephrology, bringing extensive training and a patient-focused approach to the care of kidney disease.

A native of Taiwan, Dr. Tsai has lived in the United States since childhood. He earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency. He went on to complete his Nephrology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, further strengthening his expertise in kidney care.

Dr. Tsai lives in Greenville with his wife and son and is proud to serve patients throughout the Upstate community.

William Brian Ward, M.D. is a nephrologist at Carolina Nephrology, bringing strong local roots and specialized training to the care of patients with kidney disease.

Dr. Ward grew up in Anderson, South Carolina, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina before completing his Doctor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He continued his training at MUSC in Charleston, where he completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship.

After completing his training, Dr. Ward returned to the Upstate to serve the community he calls home. He and his family live near Mauldin, and he is proud to provide patient-centered kidney care to the region.

On Saturday, March 8, Carolina Nephrology APPs presented at the 8th Annual Prisma Health Up-to-Date Advanced Practice Professional (APP) Conference at the Clemson University School of Nursing Campus in Greenville. There were hundreds of APPs there for continuing medical education this past weekend.

Dejan Lukovic, NP, and Gail Kirby, ANP-C, presented on acute kidney injury and how to avoid chronic kidney disease. Zachary Sutton, PA-C, co-presented a transplant essentials presentation.

✨ Provider Spotlight: Timothy Brown, DO, FACP ✨

Timothy Brown, DO, FACP is a nephrologist at Carolina Nephrology, bringing a unique blend of clinical expertise, military service, and leadership to the care of patients with kidney disease.

Raised in northern Greenville County, Dr. Brown is a graduate of Clemson University and began his professional journey in the pharmaceutical industry before transitioning into medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at Brooke Army Medical Center and his residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Dr. Brown spent eight years in Hospital Medicine and Graduate Medical Education, mentoring future physicians before pursuing advanced specialty training through a Nephrology Fellowship at Houston Methodist / Texas Medical Center in affiliation with Weill Cornell College of Medicine. His experience includes both inpatient and outpatient nephrology care, as well as dialysis services across private practices and Veterans facilities.

A dedicated servicemember, Dr. Brown completed two combat deployments to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and continues to serve as a Major in the United States Army Reserves, earning numerous honors for his service.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family, fitness, cooking, traveling, and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
