World Kidney Day is a reminder that kidney health matters. 💚

Led globally by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations, this annual awareness day focuses on prevention, early detection, and reducing the impact of kidney disease worldwide.

Chronic kidney disease often develops silently, with few symptoms in its early stages. Risk factors include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and a family history of kidney problems.

Simple steps like staying hydrated, maintaining a healthy diet, monitoring blood pressure, and getting routine lab work can help protect your kidney health.

This World Kidney Day, take a moment to check in on your health — because healthy kidneys are vital to overall well-being.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. 💙

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, colorectal cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States and a leading cause of cancer-related death. The good news? Screening can help prevent colorectal cancer or detect it early, when treatment is most effective.

Because rates are rising in younger adults, screening is now recommended beginning at age 45 for those at average risk.

Colorectal cancer often develops without symptoms. Don’t wait for warning signs — talk to your healthcare provider about getting screened.

Early detection saves lives. 💙

Colon cancer is increasing in younger adults — and early detection matters. 🔎

Since 1994, rates have risen significantly in people under 50, and colorectal cancer is now the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Because of this, the American Cancer Society recommends beginning colonoscopy screenings at age 45 instead of 50.

Colorectal cancer often develops without noticeable symptoms. A colonoscopy can detect cancer early — and in some cases, prevent it altogether by identifying and removing precancerous polyps. 🩺

If you are 45 or older, or have a family history of colorectal cancer, talk with your healthcare provider about getting screened. Early detection can make all the difference. ✅

💮 January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 💮

Cervical cancer is highly preventable with the right tools. According to the CDC, nearly all cervical cancers are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV)—making routine screenings and HPV vaccination powerful ways to reduce risk.

Regular Pap tests and HPV testing can detect changes early, often before cancer develops, and the HPV vaccine helps protect against the virus responsible for most cases.

At Greenville Pathology, we’re committed to supporting early detection and accurate diagnosis to help protect the health of our community. Awareness, prevention, and proactive care truly save lives.
