🚨 What’s in a Harm Reduction Kit? It Could Save a Life. 🚨

The drug supply is unpredictable. Fentanyl, xylazine, nitazenes, and benzodiazepines are being found in substances without people knowing.

This kit includes:

🚨 What You Need to Know About Xylazine & Nitazenes 🚨
Emerging Drug Threats in Our Communities

At Prairie Counseling Center, we believe education saves lives. Two dangerous substances are increasingly being found in the illicit drug supply: Xylazine and Nitazenes.

🔹 Xylazine (also called “tranq”)
• A veterinary sedative, not approved for human use
• Often mixed with fentanyl
• Can cause extreme sedation, slowed breathing, low blood pressure
• Linked to severe skin wounds and infections
• ❗ Naloxone (Narcan) does NOT reverse xylazine, but it should still be given if an opioid overdose is suspected because fentanyl is often present.

🔹 Nitazenes
• A class of powerful synthetic opioids
• Can be stronger than fentanyl
• Extremely high overdose risk
• May require multiple doses of naloxone
• Often mixed into other substances without the person’s knowledge

⚠️ Many individuals do not know these substances are present in what they are using. This dramatically increases overdose risk.

💡 Harm Reduction Tips:
✔ Never use alone
✔ Carry naloxone
✔ Test supply when possible
✔ Seek medical attention for unusual wounds or signs of overdose
✔ Reach out for support
