We are honored to be named Large System of the Year by the South Carolina EMS Association.

This recognition reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of our entire team. This is more than an award to hang on the wall. It represents the calm voice on someone’s worst day, every lesson taught, every skill practiced, and every moment our teams choose to show up again and again-in service to others.

Prisma Health EMS is honored to support students as they transition from Health Science into our EMT Explorer Program! To provide valuable, real-life training and educational experiences, Prisma Health donated an ambulance that we are taking out of service for this important cause! Great crowd of students and future employees in attendance today! Grateful for our partnership with HCTC and the Oconee School District Leadership.

Paramedic Erin McKinley was recognized for exemplifying compassion and patient-centered care. During a recent call, Erin took the time to truly listen to a patient share the personal history and pride his family held in a local baseball field. Recognizing how meaningful this was to him, Erin went beyond the immediate medical needs and sought ways to help the patient reconnect with a place that holds deep significance in his life.

Her empathy, attentiveness, and willingness to advocate for her patient reflect the very best of what it means to provide compassionate care. Erin’s actions are a powerful reminder that the impact of EMS extends far beyond the clinical care we provide.

Congratulations Paramedic McKinley!

Every 911 call begins with a voice.

Before the sirens.

Before the lights.

Before help ever arrives.

That calm, steady voice belongs to a telecommunicator.

During Telecommunications Week, we’re celebrating the voices behind the radio and the calm behind the chaos. Our dispatchers are the unseen first first-responders who coordinate care, guide crews, and support patients long before help arrives.

This year, Prisma Health EMS invites field crews, departments, and leadership to “Adopt-a-Dispatcher.”

When you adopt a dispatcher, you’ll receive a short “About me” sheet and can create custom gifts and baskets just for them- snacks, gift cards. Coffee, handwritten notes, etc

Dispatchers are the lifeline between callers, crews, and hospitals, and this week is about recognizing the incredible work they do every day.

We have a total of 28 dispatchers, if you would like to adopt one, please contact Courtney at Courtney.Wilbanks@prismahealth.org.

📅 Telecommunications Week: April 13–19, 2026
📍 Department: Prisma Health EMS Communications (OCONEE)

Let’s make sure every dispatcher feels appreciated.
Adopt a Dispatcher and help us celebrate the voices behind the headset. 🎧

Sepsis (a life-threatening response to infection) is a leading cause of death in the United States and the risk of death from sepsis exceeds strokes and heart attacks. Prisma Health EMS and Greenville County EMS were two of the first EMS systems in the country to administer antibiotics in the field. Prisma Health EMS is the first EMS agency in the United States to demonstrate the association between prehospital antibiotic administration and improved patient outcomes.

The Prisma Health Research Team showed patients who received prehospital antibiotics had:
• 44% lower odds of septic shock
• 53% lower odds of ICU admission
• 48% lower odds of 30-day mortality

Early antibiotics save lives!
