COVID FAQ: "I was exposed to someone that is positive for COVID-19.... what should I do?"

Answer: You and any household contacts must self-quarantine for 14 DAYS. You do not have to get tested, but you might choose to. If you develop symptoms within the 14 days you most likely have COVID-19.

Some places (including Thrive) have limited testing supplies so we are not able to test asymptomatic patients that have been exposed.

Many people want to get tested right away after a known exposure which is understandable, but we wanted to repost this graphic which shows why it is so important to self-quarantine for a full 14 days (from exposure) to see if you develop any symptoms, REGARDLESS of what your COVID-19 test result is.

WHAT IS MY BLOOD TYPE?

We are getting a lot of calls and emails from patients wanting to know their blood types, so we wanted to share some info on this:

1) We do not know your blood type just by doing your regular labs.
2) You must REQUEST to have your blood type checked the next time you get labs drawn.
3) OR you can also go to any blood donation center and find out your blood type when you give blood.
4) If you would like to have yours checked, please wait until your next regular appointment to ask us about this and we will be happy to check it for you!

Our staff is working hard to fight COVID-19 in the office, so we are going to be answering some FAQ's here on our FB page to help try to answer some of the questions so many of you have!

We urge you to stay safe and follow the COVID-19 guidelines to help reduce SC COVID-19 cases!

Coming soon – TELEMEDICINE VISITS!!

As you all know, the situation with COVID-19 is rapidly changing and we want to keep you updated.
A few weeks ago, we started the process of implementing telemedicine in anticipation that COVID-19 would likely become more widespread and affect the patient’s ability and comfort level with coming to our office.
We hope to have the system up and running by next week (or maybe earlier!) where you will be able to use your computer (camera enabled) or your smartphone (camera enabled) to do the visit.
If you have an appointment in the next few weeks and are concerned about coming into the office, please hold tight! We will be contacting you as soon as the program is live and we are able to offer you the chance to change your visit to a telemedicine visit for certain types of sick visits, medication refills (including controlled substances), or follow-up appointments.

The safety of our staff and patients is our top priority and we will do everything we can to maintain this.
We will continue to keep you posted as the situation develops.

Stay safe!
Dr. Lindsey Cecil, Dr. James Hudson, and Stephanie Weir, NP
